Skeet's vet wants him to take 2000 mg of glucosamine and msm a day.

Any product that you have used or recommend would be appreciated.

I haven't used glucosamine or MSM for any of my dogs, but I have given then a lot of supplements over the years, especially JD, and I have learned that whenever possible, you are better off going with a human supplement rather than one made for dogs. The human versions are better regulated so higher quality, and usually cheaper.

Thank you Karen. I had not thought of that. Skeet has a sore knee and they thought

that might help.

I hope it does!

I can't remember the brand name of glucosimine we used on our Golden retriever, but it was a high quality human version and I swear it was part of the reason we had a healthy  happy large breed dog until he was 15.  We started him on it when he was about 6 years old and he received it daily from then on.  No hip or joint issues what-so ever.  This is of course only my experience, but I swear by it.

Thanks Mari. That is very encouraging. He starts today and hopefully his knee will respond.

I give Wally one full tablet of Dausequin DS each morning.  I used to give him Cosequin, until our vet recommended that we switch brands. I give both dogs Nature's Way Super Fisol, which is a human supplement, but the glucosamine is a canine product.
