Hi everyone, I've just had my Murph at the Vets over the last last three days with a high temperature, poor appetite, lethargy. Prescribed a course of intravenous antibiotic followed by an oral regime. Overall he's condition has been up and down but now presenting quite happy. A blood test indicated a low white cell count and subsequent urine test showed some traces of blood. The vet indicates Murph may have Glycogin storage disease but only a hypothesis. A follow up check tomorrow for temperature with a possible 24hr observation and IV fluids. Anyone experianced this? My research tells me the outcome is dire :(

So happy the diagnosis is better than thought and that he is doing better!

Thank you for posting this update. I'm so grateful to hear it.

Remember the saying "When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses not zebras"?  I'm glad it was a 'horse' disease, and not a 'zebra' disease, but kudos to your vet for being thorough and sharing his/her thoughts about diagnosis with you.  I'm sorry you had to go through the anxiety of possibly having a very serious disease, but so glad it was diagnosed as something a lot more treatable.  What a relief!

I am so glad that Murph's diagnosis is simply a curable infection.  Hooray!
