Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My F1b goldendoodle is now 4.5 months old, getting big and growing up fast. I am soliciting your ideas about when we should think about having Daisy's first haircut. Her puppy hair is a little on the straight side but we can see that the adult hair underneath seems to be a tighter curl. My wife brushes and combs daisy daily and there are no mats. One groomer told her not to think about her first cut until age 7 or 8 months. I have read other places that a lot of people have their doodle shaved at some point to get rid of all the puppy fur and let the adult coat emerge. Any thoughts?

And she look so so cute!

Your doodle is adorable, both before and after!  Have you considered joining the DK photography group? I can see that first shot in the Doodle Kisses calendar!

My husband and I got our doodle Cooper's first haircut at 5 months old and no regrets! We live in the northeast and it seems to be getting hotter much earlier this spring, today it will be 88 degrees. Cooper seemed miserable with the hot days and all his hair. The groomer stated that Cooper was very cooperative and did not budge during the grooming process which surprised me. I am sooooo satisfied with the results that we are planning to take him back soon, his hair is growing back very fast. All our friends and family just love his new look. I really think that 5 months was a good age to get his first haircut.
