Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This is a question for those who have owned standard poodles. What are some personality differences between Standard Poodle and Goldendoodle. I've seen some of the threads in the past but people could not seem to agree on whether poodles were a lot more independent than doodles. I've heard one poodle owner tell me that her current standard poodle was a lot more of a guard dog than her previous Goldendoodle. I realize that some of this has to be the specific personality/ temperament of the dog in question but I was wondering if there were more general differences between their temperament.

It is all a matter of opinion, but my all-time favorite dog was a phantom goldendoodle. His mother was a goldendoodle and his father a phantom poodle, therefore 3/4 poodle. He had a wonderful coat and was a very easy going dog. I liked him so much that when he passed on, I wanted another dog just like him. The breeder had a young phantom poodle that looked just like Groucho Too, but was not breeding phantom goldendoodles. She was using this stud with OES and Bernese MD bitches. I got a sheepadoodle but had to wait two years. She is a beautiful dog. I will try to post a photo of her after her recent groom. Oh, no, that was before her groom. Nevertheless, I think my preference is the F1b goldendoodle. Let me try a Groucho Too post. Okay, that one is Groucho Too and Harpo (ALD) enjoying the beach. Problem is that all of my photo files have been transferred to a Maxtor hard-drive and they are just numbers, I can't see which photo I am posting until after it is posted.
I haven't owned a poodle, but my son has a 6 month old standard doodle. Her personality and my mini Australian Labradoodle's personality are quite similar. I have been told Ned is quite 'poodle like' whatever that really means. Our newest doodle, also an Australian Labradoodle, has all of the traits people seem to feel doodles possess. All are great dogs.
