Goldendoodles and the Summer Sun

With spring finally here in the New England area, and us being new dog owners, we were just wondering if there are any precautions we should take regarding the puppies and sun exposure.  Are there any sunscreen products that are necessary to use? 

 

I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I would rather be safe than sorry.  Our puppies are 15 weeks and 11 weeks old.

1st let me say that Fenway is adorable.  Can't wait to see pics of the newest addition.  My thoughts would be that if both puppies are of the cream/apricot color and very furry, you really don't need to worry about sunscreen.  Just make sure that if they are outside playing that there is plenty of water for them to drink.  Many people get little wading pools as well for the summer months.  Our girls loved them.  We have a little bit of a challenge with our Lucy because she is black and the sun is much harder on her than the lighter colored ones.  I do believe that there are sunscreen products on the market, but unless I had a shaved down doodle, don't think I would worry about it.

I think I will be applying sunscreen to Stella's nose and top of snout where there hair seem a little thinner.

The puppy playpen, I remember it well:) Your dood is adorable:) Their hair will probably shield them from the sun enough but if you want, you can put sunscreen on their noses to prevent sunburn there. You could probably use a chapstick with sunscreen in it for that but they probably sell doggie sunscreen. One time, we took Huff to the dog beach and he came back with a pink spot on his nose. I think it was sunburn but it could have been that he scraped himself or something. Good luck:)

They do have doggie sunscreen but make sure it's safe first. There may have been discussions onthis if yuo type in sunscreen under the topics or forums. Have a great summer!
