Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Im getting black goldendoodle soon. I have been told her coat may change in color by the time shes one or so because her dad is a "Blue" poodle.
Do any of you have a doodle with this in the pedigree? If so would like to see pics of what minie may look like in color.

I'm not sure that applies to all "blue" animals, though. In dogs, blue coloring is related to a "fading" or dilute gene, and the puppies are born solid black, which fades or is diluted as a whole, it's not composed of separate black and white hairs. You also see it with puppies who are born dark brown and fade to cafe au lait, lavendar, etc. The color actually becomes lighter, it's not a mix of brown and white hairs.
Are these blue horses and chickens born solid black?
Here's an article on the genes involved in poodle colors: http://homepage.usask.ca/~schmutz/poodle.html
Spud's dad was a black poodle. Go figure.
Not unusual at all. In poodles, whites and blacks are related, you often get both in a litter, and whites should have black skin and black pigment, always.
He does have mostly black skin, with spots in places of pink.
Daisy's mom was a black Goldendoodle and her dad was a chocholate and white parti standard poodle. Like I said, you never know what you will end up with.
Thank you everyone for you input. Gives me a better idea of what to expect.
Here are 3 pictures of some of the puppies of this litter:) They are 3 weeks old. Im partial to the first
what color parti was her dad?
Blue poodles get a brownish cast before the black "clears" to blue.
