Got Poop? Here's a GREAT way to get rid of it!

If you've got Poop in your yard...you NEED this!

Whether you've got one labradoodle, 3 goldendoodles, or some other combo...poop happens -- and often!  I once did the math for how much poop our dogs create in a week and it wasn't pretty.  What we USED to do is shovel it all into a trash can lined with a bag and putting that stinking bag of poop into our trash can every other week.  At best, GROSS. At worst it was an environmental problem putting poop into a sanitary landfill.  It was a terrible solution to the poop problem.

We repeatedly considered those doggy poop composter thingies, but they didn't really seem suitable for multiple larger dogs.  I'd also heard negative reviews about the lids coming off, being stinky, etc.  Not much of an improvement except for keeping poop out of the landfill.  That's good, but the whole process is still pretty gross.

Then we discovered a totally different 'poop toy' (that's what I call it!) that seemed perfect!  I showed the site to Clark and a little while later, he ordered one and installed it and it IS virtually perfect!

This is by far the best solution to disposing of yard poop that I have seen.

The Doggie Doo Drain is an eco-friendly waste disposal system that is very easy to use.  You just screw the Doggie Doo Drain into your existing sewer cleanout. 

Simple, clean, and green.  NO stewing garbage pail swarmed by flies.  No stinky trash can!  NO tending an underground poo compost pile!  You just scoop the poop, drop it in and hose it down the drain!  And the poop goes to where poop is supposed to go: to the poop plant that you already pay the city for!

PS.  The Doggie Doo Drain is not for everyone.  It is recommended only for those on a city sewer system. (Correction:  It WILL work well with septic tanks and those on city sewer.  The plumber the designed it comfirmed this.  Cool!)  And for some of you in the Great White North... it is more difficult to use during freezing winters. You CAN use it, but your garden hose will be frozen so you would have to pour a bucket of water down the drain to 'flush' all that doggy doo.  But as the great poo thaw approaches...you WILL want something this easy to use!

K, I'm intrigued because the snow is melting and there is a ton of poo that is thawing and now needing scooped. Here are my initial questions:

1) the hole looks a little small, some of my piles are fairly large. Can I use a larger pipe? How does that work?
2) I usually scoop the yard 2-3 times a week, how much can I put in at once (I apologize as even typing this is gross)?

1) I was worried about that too. But I haven't had trouble. The only time it was a wee bit more difficult was when they were completely frozen hard large piles...then it took a bit more water to kinda melt them down the drain. I can usually put in a shovel full (so several small/med piles) and it hoses down without trouble. I may fill a bucket and then pour that in ... essentially like flushing a toilet. Now if only we could teach the doodles to just hover over the hole and go!

2) I scoop LESS often than you and it's fine.

Ah, I had forgotten by now your mention of something like this in the works. As it turns out this was lucky because, alas, this is not for me. Not only am I in the frozen north but I have a septic system. So in the trash it goes. Maybe someone will come up with something else that will work.

Okay so the information says sewer/septic clean out line. We'll investigate further for those with septic tanks.

Looks like as long as you have a screw-in cap on yours the Doggy Do Drain just screws into it the same as a sewer cleanout line.

I checked with my husband and he told me ours is located in the basement. It would be a pipe with a cap on the end that you have to mow around, unless it's in your landscaping.
