I just went out to pick up after Meg this morning I found what I believe is roundworms...yuck! The stools are from last night and about 3 hours ago and nothing was actually moving, but they were in both piles.
So she has been on advantage multi since I have had her, put it on her on the first of every month, so she has been on it Nov, Dec, Jan, and now Feb. Since the package clearly states that it is for "treatment and control of hookworms, roundworms and whipworms" I am curious about how this could be? If they were small I would say that she picked something up and the treatment got them but these are probably over 3" long.
Will be at the vet's as soon as they open tomorrow but in the mean time...what the heck??????????

Judy, here's a good article about roundworms in dogs: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_roundworms_in_dogs___puppies.html
As you can see from this article, once they have them, they need more than one treatment to get rid of them, closer together than a month. It seems possible that Meg could have had them when you first got her, and that the Advantage once a month wasn't enough to get rid of them. Just a guess, though.
Thanks Karen, you are probably right about her having them previously. She has only been here, at the groomer/vets office (same building) and her walks are on the blacktop at the park. There has not been another dog on this property for the last 15/16 years, not sure if the eggs could have lasted that long. At any rate, to the vet first thing in the morning.
