Thanks so much everyone!
It was a burr that had gotten wedged in between her paw pads and entangled with fur. And judging by the smell was beginning to get infected also. Poor thing - no wonder she couldn't put pressure on that back paw. Thankfully the vet was able to cut the burr out, and she's back to her playful self again. I really appreciate all the helpful comments and well wishes.
