Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This probably should be a blog, but I'll include a question so it can fit under the "definition" of a discussion. Anyway, I'm wondering if Doodles know whether they're boys or girls once they're neutered? My Guinness often acts kind of "girly" while Murph acts really macho all the time....except when he's scared of something then he runs crying to his Mommy (not unlike most men I've met). So do they actually have "sexual behavioral characteristics"? You may wonder why this would even come up or why I'd care. Here's the story. I was in our pet store a couple weeks ago and I saw a beautiful dog bed....really pretty floral that would go really well with my living room colors. I loved it and brought it home. It was actually for Guinness since it's on the smaller side. Here it is...
My DH took one look at it and asked if they had any with pictures of football players or cars on them....like that would go in my living room....hello???? Anyway, I was operating under the assumption that my boys are DOGS so what would they care if this is a "girly" bed.....WRONG. They care. They want nothing to do with this bed. Murph tried it once (and you can imagine how ridiculous he looked on this little flowery bed) and that was it. Guinness doesn't even want to look at it. He'll lie down right next to it but refuses to lay on it.
So what's going on here? Do they think people will call them "sissies" if they sleep on the bed? Are they feeling a bit "ridiculed" because people have been making comments about their collars with the pink hearts on them? Are they trying to assert their manhood? WTD?

Wow...what great colors!
Great colors. I love bright colors on the doods as well. Monty always gets addressed as "she" as well.
Ha ha ha! I really like that and think it looks great in your living room. I think you should put it up on the couch as a decorative pillow for a few days and let it 'slip' to the floor. I'll bet the argue over who gets to lay on Mom's new couch pillow.
It a very pretty Jane but the first rule of Dbl Dog is if you get for one you must get for both. Guinness won't use it in protest that you didn't get Murphy one that fits his stature. Clearly Murphy is dejected, just look at him. Ha ha.
My DD bought her boxer a sweater when it first got cold this year, her other dog didn't get one. When the Boxer wore it the older dog Sophie actually picked a fight with her. I said Sophie was jealous and that she should have purchased one for both. She told me I was ridiculous but she bought another for Sophie anyway. They now live in harmony.
HaHaHa...maybe that's it! Love these sweaters...although that Boxer is not looking very happy.
:0) she's happy, Mommy is holding a treat to make them look. Ha ha
Oh and the title of the picture when she sent it to me was "Grandma was right".
ha ha.
I don't know what their problem is with that bed. I absolutely love it! Someone gave me an orange one and my doodles don't use it at all, not even the cat. I wonder if dogs have colour preferences...
