Okaaaay....so Halloween is just not our doodle's favorite holiday! She's freaking out with all the walkers through the street. She's running frantically from one window to the next barking her head off. She even got so crazy that when she ran to one of our windows, she knocked down a "Guitar Hero" guitar, which in turn knocked over and broke 3 of my sons' trophies.... Ugh! Just when I thought she was calming down with unexpected 'visitors'.

I agree with her. Halloween is one of my least favorite holidays!
Yeah! And we didn't even get many Trick or Treaters to the door. We live "in the hills" and even the kids from our neighborhood go to the other neighborhoods so they don't have to walk the hills... I don't know what it is with kids these days.... we used to go out for HOURS!! and walk,walk,walk.... good thing tho' I think Tori wouldn't be able to take it. I actually tried to catch the few treaters we had before they came in view of Tori, but she actually sensed them first! Personally, I prefer Christmas! - lol Glad we're all in this "boat together"!!! Shelly
Hey Tori! I feel your pain!
Halloween is the worst day of the year for dogs! They dress us up like fools for people to laugh at, and then they pass around all kinds of great-smelling treats that we can't have! Scary looking creatures keep coming to my door, and I'm not even allowed to bark at them! Halloween is Doodle Torture Day!
(I am working on a plan, though. My cat-sister can climb up high, and I am trying to get her to knock that big bowl of treats down so we can get some. I will let you know how it works out.)
Your friend in misery,
Jackdoodle
We feel the same way....our mom closed all the blinds...and we are confined to the back of the house...We can't wait till daddy gets home and then he will see what our mom is doing to us....Beemer got his paws on a Milk Dud this morning and our mom went right into his mouth and got it out....now is THAT fair?...now I hear that later WE have to put those stupid costumes back on and go "Trick or Treating" (I hear it is like a human form of begging....so that makes it okay?).....Comiskey and Beemer
Tucker and I are going to visit the pet shops tonight ( soon) I cant deal with the barking. He is GI JOE- - maybe I'll buy him some trick or treats IF he is good and keeps his costume on. I'm leaving my son and girlfriend home to give out the candy.
I was worried about how the girls would do for Halloween, but as it turns out they did great. We don't stay in the house and let them come to the door, we set up lawn chairs at the end of the driveway and that saves the kids time, and saves our grass! We took Lucy and Sophie out with us and after a tiny little bit of overexcitement (when my 5 year old niece showed up) they just sat or layed down the entire time. There was some good training with other dogs as well because this is one of our problem areas ...... Sophie always thinks they are her personal play toys so she gets a little excited. We also have puppy treats for any dogs that come trick or treating as well. Of course everyone had to pet them and we had to explain 500 times what they were, but all in all a good evening. They didn't have costumes, just their Halloween Collar Scrunchies! If you put anything at all on Sophie past a bandanna, she will stand absolutely still and not move! She pouts!

I think if we had tried to do this in the house with the door bell ringing they would have gone crazy. But we have so many trick or treaters that it is just easier for everyone to sit at the end of their driveways. Ours is over it was Thursday, so anyone doing it tonight, have fun!
We went to pet shop tonight as well. Charlie was afraid of the yard decorations for awhile, so I figured she would not do so well if all kinds of kids in costume come ringing the door beel all night long....
Both my doodles did great tonight. I dressed them both in costumes which they kept on and we walked for a bit with the grandkids. Then we came home and they both laid on the porch and watched DH hand out candy. No barking! This was fantastic as it was Finn's first Halloween.
Lizzie did great! Perhaps, though, that is because we had a grand total of 3 trick-or-treaters and my doorbell's broken! hehe!
I don't like Halloween much myself...The doorbell and 3 dogs were making me crazy so we all went for the longest walk ever...by the time we got home it started to rain and that stopped the trick or treating YEAH
