Do your dogs seem to get really hot easily? I feel like my pup likes to sleep in the kitchen by the back door where the breeze comes in. He will lay in his dog bed for a bit, then move to the floor, and then tile, etc.  Just wondering if  yours do too and if its normal? He is pretty furry.

So i was thinking of sewing a dog bed (and cat bed to be fair) for the animals. What materials would you use that would be soft but not warm (not flannel or cotton), silk would be cool, but might get too warm?  Also, what would you stuff it with?

Thanks!

I guess I dont have a Picture of Trixie behind the toilet posted. I cant seem to post one here

LOL!

'I'm useless with needle and thread but if I could I would make my own duvets.  These are the ones I have and they are stuffed with pillows and old clothes which works really well. The covers wash easily in the machine. Both Riley and Boris get hot but they start off on beds and end up on the tiles. I think they just like to move around the house. When I wake in the night they could be anywhere including either on or under the bed!

LOVE the Molly Mutt site, have passed it on to a number of friends and family members.  THANKS!

They are great and reasonably priced too..

Fudge and Vern both prefer the cold, hard floor to beds and we sleep with a fan on, for the dogs, in the dead of winter :) Vern has a bed called the Coolaroo bed that he absolutely loves to roll on and dig on, but I hardly ever see him sleeping on it. Fudge hates that bed.

Quincy likes our bathroom tiled floor for at least some of the night.  He does jump up with us sometimes, but less so with slightly warmer weather. During the day, he likes to lay across the door jamb- presumably for the draft.   Our AC comes out of vents in the ceiling-so he is out of luck for a cool direct breeze once we switch to AC.

It is funny that you post this, since I've been a dog bed maniac ever since we got Monty. I swear, he had at least 5 different beds when growing up. All were store bought. It took me a while to realize he does not like fluffy beds (the ones he would disappear in) or beds resemble sheep skin (he would hump those, go figure). We used to have beds in almost every single room of the house, it was ridiculous, and he never used them. I donated them all to a local shelter. The only bed he is using is his night bed in our bedroom (well, if you don't count our own bed that he hogs sleeps in from time to time). He likes having the "bumpers" to lean against. I bought the same bed for Auggie and put it on the other side of our bed. Monty would wander between his bed, Auggie's bed and the tiles in the bathroom at night. Auggie sleeps either on his bed or in the gap between his and our bed, on the bathroom tiles (if they are not already occupied) or just plops down on the carpet by the bedroom door.

I did have an urge to make a bed for Monty, so I made a real simple one from denim, with velcro closures. It's stuffed with poly fibers from old pillows, but it's not too fluffy. I have it on the loft where I work. Both dogs would use it for a while and then just sleep on the carpet or wherever.

What's funny is that we now have blankets throughout our house. If you put a cheap $3 blanket from Walgreens on the floor somewhere, the dogs will plop down on it. But just like everyone else said, they just sleep wherever they feel comfortable and not too hot. AC vent in the summer or just wherever in the house.

HAHAAH These pictures are priceless!!!!!!!!! Archie sleeps and loves stairs too. So odd!

Loved all those Pictures Jarka!

Great pictures...: )

I love that you have nerd dogs, too.  Awesome!
