Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello!  We just adopted a medium Goldendoodle through a rescue agency.  They think he is about 1 year old and was rescued from an Amish breeding operation.  I was wondering if anyone in this group has a "rescued" Doodle?  If so, have you found that the Doodle adjusted fairly quickly after you adopted him/her?  This sweet boy we got is so timid and afraid of many sounds in the home as he had been left outside in a 6x6 kennel with a few other pups that weren't purchased.  Basically, no real human contact and no idea of what it's like to live inside a home with a loving family.  He was one giant matted mess and had to be shaved down prior to being placed for adoption.  Our 4 year old Goldendoodle has been patient with the new pup so far, but is getting a bit anxious to play with his new canine friend!  Have another 9 days before letting them play as Teddy was just neutered.

Any advice would be appreciated!  My main concern is that this little boy can be housebroken and will lose some of his fear of humans (he is already attached to me, but is reluctant to let anyone else get too close to him.)  He loves our Doodle, Bailey and they played nicely on our first meeting, but now he is confused as to why they can't play.

Kindest thanks,

Deborah

Good morning!  It's great to see all of the responses to my issue here!  There is nothing better than getting great advice from the best source---all of you Doodle Moms!  I appreciate all of you suggestions and examples of do's and don'ts for the best way to properly integrate and train a rescued Doodle into his new family!  While this is going to be a bit of a challenge, the rewards will far outweigh the extra effort we are putting into Teddy!  I am so spoiled with having Bailey, who like most of your Doodles, is a perfect dog in all respects, so this is all new to me.  Coming from a neglectful and unloving, uncaring situation, it is very obvious that Teddy knows he is in a "good and safe place" and is going to be loved and spoiled and well taken care of!  You can see it in his eyes!

Just saw the photos you posted.  Bailey is a very handsome parti doodle!  I love his coloring.  I see Bailey loves the stick too.  Beau has one and loves it too!  Looking forward to update and a video of them playing happily together!

What a lucky fellow-thank you for rescuing him and I know you will both reap the joys!

We rescued a schnoodle, and she jumped right into our family.  She is the sweetest dog!  We can't imagine a day without her.

A schnoodle!  How much fun is that?  I am getting a sheepadoodle next year and just can't wait.  These poodle mixes are the greatest dogs.  I love schnoodles.
