CAN YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON THESE?

THESE ARE JUST FOUR OF HUNDREDS OF DOGS WHO NEEDED RESCUING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THIS IS NOT WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE WHEN THEY WERE RESCUED.  THIS IS WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE AFTER MEDICAL TREATMENT AND LOTS OF LOVE.  WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF THE TRANSFORMATION? THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN YOU PERSONALLY ASSIST IN HELPING IN THAT TRANSFORMATION IS PRETTY FANTASTIC.  IF YOU FOSTER CORRECTLY, IT WILL BE HARD TO LET THAT DOG GO - AFTER ALL YOU PUT IN LOTS OF LOVE GETTING TO KNOW THAT DOG AND HELPING IT GET OVER THE TRAUMA OF ABANDONMENT. WHAT THIS DOES IS HELP IN CHOOSING JUST THE CORRECT NEW AND FOREVER FAMILY FOR THAT DOG.

IF YOU HAVE ADOPTED A DOG FROM A RESCUE OR SHELTER, POST THEM HERE.  IF YOU HAVE A BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURE - EVEN BETTER.  BE SURE TO THANK THE RESCUE ORGANIZATION OR SHELTER IN YOUR POST. WITHOUT THEM, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE YOUR PRECIOUS PUP.

Is Charlie a foster fail, or will he be up for adoption? He seems to have settled right in and would probably be hard on all 3 dogs if he was put up for adoption. But I do understand that is the way it is, and you can't think of it that way.

I can answer that question, lol. Charlie was a foster fail pretty much from the day Nancy got him, lol. He's not going anywhere.

I was wondering. At times I got the impression he wasn't going anywhere and others he was a foster.

Thanks for asking, Amy.  The little dickens, parti boy, is 'foreverly' mine. Just one look was all it took - like the song! :-} I was ripe for this guy who's naughty traits even mimic my Springer!  I caught him chewing a corner of my floor molding yesterday in Gordie's spot!

I know it is hard to believe, but these are only a few of the doodles who are sitting in So. Cal kill shelters at this very moment. Parties, phantoms, every color, every age, every size. Small, young non-shedding doodle dogs are in danger of losing their lives simply because there are no foster homes available. DRC cannot pull them from the shelters if we have nowhere to put them. 

Please, please consider opening your heart and your home to one of these babies for a few weeks. There is no expense to you, DRC will pay for everything. You will have the support of our wonderful experienced CA volunteers, including Nancy and her equally wonderful DH Skip, every step of the way. Even better, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you truly saved a life.

I would love to adopt. I am always afraid to try though because in the questionnaire it asks if you have ever been turned down. I am always afraid the first time I apply I won't be chosen and then when I try again I will have to say I was turned down and it will go against me. I figure if I don't apply, I won't have to say I wasn't chosen. I know that is what is keeping me from going for it. It is what I think about when I see a dog I want. Then I get scared of having a black mark against me so I chicken out. I love that brown and white one, so darling. Plus I am not in California.

DRC's adoption application has a lot of questions, but "have you ever been turned down?" isn't one of them. There's no "black marks" or centralized list, lol. And not being chosen is not the same thing as having been turned down. DRC receives as many as 250 applications for a single dog. Obviously, only one can be chosen, but that doesn't mean the other 249 were bad homes, lol. I myself was first runner-up for a dog I applied to adopt before I got Jack. I wasn't rejected as an adopter, I just wasn't found to be the very best match for that particular dog. However, 2 weeks later, I was found to be the very best match for Jackdoodle. Boy, not being chosen for that first dog turned out to be an amazingly great thing for me. :)

Please don't be afraid to apply to adopt, if and when you see a dog who speaks to you. And better yet, please don't be afraid to foster. No long term commitment, eternal gratitude. Without foster homes, all these dogs and hundreds more like them will die.

I thought DRC had the have you ever been turned in their questionnaire. But I have looked at a lot of questionnaires the last few months. I took a break from looking so I forget who else it could have been.

It asks if you have ever applied to another rescue, and if so, what was the outcome. So again, saying "another family was chosen" is not the same thing as having been turned down. Many of the applications I see say "the dog was already adopted". :)
