It is something in her ear canal. Could be moisture, could be hair. A dog's ear canal is very deep and anything could get down there. If you don't feel capable of a deep cleaning, take her to the vet and ask him/her to show you how to clean your dog's ears. Yes, it is annoying to you, but even more annoying to her.
She may have an ear infection. What you are describing sounds like more than just moisture from playing in the snow. I'd have the vet take a look.
Go to the vet. Please don't wait. An ear infection caught earlier may be easier to treat (?)
Don't mess with the ears. A simple vet appointment now might avoid many many vet appointments down the road.
It is not normal for your dog to be shaking its head repeatedly and certainly should never be awake at 3am to do so. If it is waking your dog up, if it is not normal, make that call.
When my dogs have shaken their heads it was infections.
I'm sorry.
I agree about a trip (or at least a call) to the Vet. Please let us know how she's doing.
Vet time. Please let us know the result.
Our last doodle, Zak, had a couple of ear infections until we figured out how to prevent. When she had an infection, our first indication was her shaking her head and rubbing her ears. After a day, they turned very red inside. When they have an infection, they have to go to the vet and have it treated with antibiotics but afterwards there is a preventative measure that you can use. I would definitely ask your vet, but for us, we always treated Zak's ears with Pro-Otic once a week and every time she was exposed to water (shower, swimming, snow etc.) Our present doodle Myla, has no problems with her ears at all so we do nothing. Just know, that once they have an ear infection, it has to be treated by a vet with antibiotics and it is very painful for the dog, so please go as soon as possible. Then you can use whatever preventative measure you decide on.
