Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I wanted to to let the group know there is a great sounding male doodle named Wally looking for a home in Illinois (Starved Rock area about 1.5 hours west of Chicago) He is 9 years old, but healthy.

The rescue does various wildlife but only senior dogs.  Wally apparently came from a "broken home" as they said in the old days. They say they have all his health records and the rescue says he is healthy and happy.

He is living in foster with other dogs, both big and small and a kitten.

They do not charge an adoption fee for senior dogs, considering it a "permanent foster".

I asked questions via Facebook messages with the rescue and they were really responsive.

There is a website and Facebook page. The group is called 2nd Hand Ranch & Rescue

Poor baby, being given up at nine years old must have been tough on him. Hopefully he finds a new home soon.

Oh, my.  I just cannot understand how someone can give up (That's saying it politely.) their family dog of nine years.  I keep thinking about this guy, who has the same name as my Wally.  He must be completely confused.  My doodle is eight-years young, and it sounds like his Illinois namesake is very healthy and good natured.  I hope that someone scoops him up and gives him a loving home.

i could not imagine giving up my 6 y/o doodle for any reason at all. poor wally, i will post this to my chicago doodle group!

On behalf of senior dogs...Elli was 6 when we brought her into our home and she is extremely loving and happy.  So there is hope for Wally!  Dogs seem to "get on" with their lives, unlike us mere humans.  I was very relieved to have Elli "get on" with hers.

I grew up around Starved Rock. That is where my dear hubs proposed to me. We were on a hike along the river. Anyway I let some family and friends know about Wally. My father in law passed away a couple of years ago and my mother in law has been looking to adopt an older dog. She is 80 years old and feels a young dog would be too much for her.

Thanks Amy, spread the word!!! We may be relocating in the next few months, but otherwise I might be on board for number 3! If we get our plans settled and no one takes Wally, maybe I'll go have a look. I love to get out to Starved Rock either way.
