Our beautiful Buddy is 6 months old now and continues to bring joy (and stress ha) to our lives!

We get stopped in the street on how lovely he is and he laps up the attention, we do get a few comments with how big he is going to become. I read somewhere by the time they are 6 months they would of reached 75% of their adult height as a rough guide.

So i measured from his feet to his shoulder (Is this how you measure them correct?) and it came out at 21 inches so according to the calculations he will grow to 27 inches. Mt husband this that is ridiculous as he would be the size of a small great dane, So has anyone got any other theories on how to find a rough height which had worked??

Size does not matter to us, i say the bigger the dog the better! Just curious

The pic is just because he is so damn cute!

I don't believe there is any one formula you can use to predict a dog's height, because the age at which a dog reaches his full adult height depends on several factors. Large breeds reach full skeletal growth much later than small breeds. Giant breeds like Great Danes don't reach their full height until well into their second year; toy breeds are full grown by 6 months. Also, the age at which a dog is spayed or neutered can affect bone growth. Typically, a standard doodle is going to be done growing by 10-12 months old, although they may continue to gain weight in the form of muscle and bone density.

There are some doodles here who are 27" and I think a few who are even taller, though.

I have a 27 incher. :)

At five months my boy was almost 22".  I would say that he stopped growing at 12 months and didn't put on much weight after that.

Your Buddy looks a lot like my 6 month old Harper and she is very tall as well. We too get comments about how large he will be. I don't want time to fly but I am so curious too how tall she will end up. Her dad was 27 at the withers so I am thinking very tall!

Do you have his weight at four months?  The old adage that they will be double their weight at 4 months plus about five pounds for a larger dog seems to be right.  It has worked on my dogs.  I would agree with your husband that 27 inches would seem to be too large, but he may grow 4-5 more inches.  I think you are going to have a large dog!  My tallest doodle was 24 inches.
