I had 2 sticks of butter out on the counter, they needed to be at room temp. for baking. I went to the grocery store and came back and one is missing!!!!  No mess, no paper anywhere, just a doodle looking at me.. I know she will get the runs but can butter hurt her other then giving her a upset belly?  Should I take her to the vets? Or let it run its course?  Thanks!

Chewie has eaten 1/2 stick to a stick of margerine twice with no ill effects at all. My granddaughter has a dairy allergy, so it was a dairy free margerine she is able to have...still plenty of fat in it and he was just fine. I did see little pieces of the wrapper come out the next day.
If this makes you feel better Hunter ate 4 full sticks of real butter minus the paper and she was fine. She never seemed sick from it at all, it was just the day before Thanksgiving that it happened. If only I had an hour to list all the food she has surfed off the counter LOL
Chervil scored a stick of butter off the counter once, too. No effect whatsoever that I could see--apart from a new-found interest in what may be on the counter. A hunk (probably a 1/3 lb.) of cheese once, too. Wiley little bugger.
So far Lilly is fine. I hope all goes well overnight.
Update: Lilly did fine all night and today everything looks normal.:-) I will keep an eye on her today too, I did give her some more canned pumpkin with her kibble today.(just in case). I don't know what got into her because she rarely counter surfs. I even thaw meat out on the counter and she never bothers anything. We've been calling her "little butter ball" now.
Thanks everyone for your quick responses and I'm so glad she did not get sick.
I'm sure she's fine by now - if not for anything else... she earned herself a new nickname! LOL And that, has been a topic of discussion here very often! LOL Glad she's fine!
