I have researched long and hard and put policy next to policy for the last couple of weeks. Here are the top two choices and the differences.

Trupanion charges $29.47 per month with a $200 "per incident" deductible and pays 90 percent for accidents, illness and prescriptions with no pay out limit.

Embrace charges $30.28 per month with a $200 "annual" deductible and pays 80 percent for accidents, illness and prescriptions with a $10,000 annual pay out limit.

Does anyone have experience with either company? Embrace is rated the number one carrier by consumer reports.

Why are you responding to a discussion that is almost two years old? I'm sure the OP has long since made a decision on purchasing insurance and no longer needs advice.

But Joanne's point is well taken. My local S & L is currently paying .50% interest on accounts of $100,000 or more. If you put the equivalent of a year's worth of pet insurance premiums into an account, your dog would have died of old age before that interest bearing account would have earned enough interest to pay for a nail trim.

You need to find another bank ASAP....

Well since you're full of it great knowledge, you tell me which bank I should go to with a great return on all the money in this here rusty can of mine.

Google is your friend. :-)
That may be. The banks are not my friend. I also have many friends here on this site. You however, don't seem to want to make any and don't seem to be a good investment of my time either. I suppose you are similar to the .90 % return on a friendship investment also. Just like big banks.
We have one thing in common- love of dogs. Peace out
Wow. Why so serious.

Relax a little. :-)

Joanne...I have Embrace and couldn't be happier.  I custom made my own policy over three years ago so I have a $500 deductible with a lower monthly rate.  My daughter also has it but hasn't had to use it yet.  Just one huge incident and you will be glad you have insurance!!!  With Gracie's problems I am monthly submitting claims and they have come through for me every time.  They have been great and I have had zero problems with them.  No questions asked.  Every time someone on DK brings up insurance I always mention them and suggest they look into Embrace but I never hear otherwise.  If you decide to go with them tell them that Gracie Doodle Casey sent you!!!!  I have am so thankful I have them and so is Gracie!

Don't worry Nancie, I have pet insurance. After Starlit died, and working for 22 years in the medical field, I knew the value of sustaining a good policy.
I also know, after many years on DK, just exactly WHY.

Thinking of you and Gracie every day. Miss you, lots

Oops...sorry Joanne...I thought this was a new post when I saw your most recent post and went straight to the reply not realizing it was from way back in April a year ago.  What ever is going on with these recent posts looks like it is getting a bit testy!!!  I am with you on all of this.  We here at DK love our Doodles and all dogs and want the best we can possibly provide for them.  You, I and a number of us know well how valuable the insurance policy is.  If someone wants to put their insurance payment money in a rusty can and bury it them let them do it.  All I know is that since April last year I have been averaging anywhere from $200 to $500 a month on my sweet girl and I without insurance there isn't a rusty metal can out there that has that kind of money in it!!!!  I miss you all too and I will PM you real soon and get you caught up on Gracie and all.  xo

I wasn't making "flippant" commets.

Some folks are just upright. *hugs*

You're right, these folks are upright and your tone leaves a lot to be desired. You may have meant uptight but you accidentally got it right.
