Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, so doodle fever has struck again.  We are adding a little girl goldendoodle to our family.  She is a light caramel (apricot hair with a rose nose) and will be joining our chocolate goldendoodle, Webster.  For some reason, we can come up with lots of boys names, but we are struggling with girls names.  The names Dixie, Belle, Daisy, Bailey, Lindy, Penny, Mabel, Rosie, and Darcy have been used by us or family members.

We are trying to find a name which "fits" with the name Webster.  One idea is Charlotte (Charlotte's Webster :-) .  I thought of it as a joke and my husband actually likes it.

There are so many great names, does anyone have some clever girl names?  Our boy name list included Mozart, Crockett, Boone, Newton, Edison.  The closest girl name I can come up with is Glory (somewhat patriotic sounding).

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!

Okay, I came up with a couple names I'd like opinions on: Mayflower, Lyric, Banner (Star Spangled Banner). Does Banner sound more like a boy? I don't know - came up with these when I ws supposed to be sleeping - maybe they don't sound so good once the coffee kicks in :-)

Have I mentioned what good names you all have? One problem is that I've rescued many strays or pound puppies over the years PLUS we have a bunch of alpacas and a few horses. Everyone has a name (of course) so some of the good names have been used. Do we re-use a name or rule it out? Oy vey! My hubby doesn't understand why picking a name is such a big deal :-)
You are so funny! Don't you just love it when you're trying to sleep and you can't shut your brain off.... as far as your DH - I think "they're" all the same... my first dog went about a whole week with no name, and Tori had 3 that we couldn't decide on....so this was our scientific way of choosing.... we wrote each name on a piece of paper and folded it up (like she could read it) and placed them on the floor. One son held her and then the other called her and she always went to the papers first (that - we considered 'her choice') on her way to my other son... we did 7 trials and the name she 'chose' most often won.... (I just realized why she goes after paper now so much) - LOL
As far as "boyish" - yup - I get that TOO.... we loved Cobber - which means 'friend or buddy' , but it sounded too boyish to me... I do think Banner sounds boyish. Doesn't someone on here have a Lyric??? Mayflower.... ah - have another cup - "Mabel" ??? - you could call her May - lol

Charlotte is nice... I see your "theme" ~ "Liberty", "Molly" - for Molly Pitcher, "Dolly" for Dolly Madison, How 'bout Pocahontas or Sacajawea??? Now I'm gonna' go get a cup myself ! LOL
The funny thing is that after you pick a name and use it for a while you can't imagine that person or dog being named anything else, I think.
I agree. I have as hard a time as any picking names but I never think the name fits until I've used it.
Oh, not always me. I am still thinking of other names for Clancy. But with Ned, he is Ned all the way and I didn't choose it, DH did.
It took me a little while getting used to Webster - I'm used to dog names ending with a "ee" sound. Our last dogs were Cody and Dixie, other dogs have been Corky, Daisy, Lindy, Charlie. Sometimes I'll say "hey, that would be another good name" and good-ol' DH says "well, we can always change his name....I think he'd adjust fine". Seriously!?!?! I won't even change checkout lanes in the grocery store! :-)
I agree with the "EE" ending. Not sure what it is, but it just makes it easier. We just had a foster Rufus, and I could not get that name to come out of my mouth to save me. Kept wanting to call him Paddy. Maybe cause I already have a Lucy and a Sophie, but somehow it just makes it easier.
That's so funny... My last dog was "SWAYZE" (yes after Patrick) and the other names we had for Tori had ee ending sounds... Suki and Kylie
I like Lyric. I think there is another dood on DK named Lyric and I have always loved, loved, loved that name!
Charlotte - I love! But, what would her nickname be? I always end up shortening names, that's the only reason I ask!
Lottie! My friend's elderly mother is named Lottie-Mae. I just love saying it.
Love Lottie......
