Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, so doodle fever has struck again.  We are adding a little girl goldendoodle to our family.  She is a light caramel (apricot hair with a rose nose) and will be joining our chocolate goldendoodle, Webster.  For some reason, we can come up with lots of boys names, but we are struggling with girls names.  The names Dixie, Belle, Daisy, Bailey, Lindy, Penny, Mabel, Rosie, and Darcy have been used by us or family members.

We are trying to find a name which "fits" with the name Webster.  One idea is Charlotte (Charlotte's Webster :-) .  I thought of it as a joke and my husband actually likes it.

There are so many great names, does anyone have some clever girl names?  Our boy name list included Mozart, Crockett, Boone, Newton, Edison.  The closest girl name I can come up with is Glory (somewhat patriotic sounding).

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!

LOL - I laugh at Lottie - because that would be the LAST name we would pick because.... my 97 year old grandfather has a 'girl' friend and that is her name.... she's a controlling biatch... needless to say we DO NOT like her! LOL
I love Winnie! (my sister used to have a schnauzer named Winnie - they always called her Winnister the Prime Minister)
I love all of the names we have come up with for Jennifer's new pup. I guess together dk could name the world. I would ask for name suggestions for my granddaughter-to-be and you all would have terrific ideas! Too bad her mom has already chosen Evie (which I do love) but the hunt for a name is such great fun. Jennifer, my suggestion on name re-use is if you really love the name, why not re-use it. We name our children after family members.
Very good point Nancy!!!
There was that cute TV show in the 70's or 80's called Webster - here is the link to it - maybe you will get some inspiration -

My daughter liked "Webster" because of Webster's dictionary, my husband liked it because of Noah Webster, however, I remembered the Webster sitcom and thought it was quite appropriate for our chocolate, curly, goldendoodle!
Cute!
I was thinking that Webster was for the dictionary, so then I was thinking of the Thesaurus and remembered it was Roget's Thesaurus. But Roget sounds boyish. Oh well.
Okay - Denise.... what was the name of the show that was on about that same time about a little smarty pants girl - OH WAIT!!! I just thought of it "PUNKY BREWSTER" - nah... "brewster" sounds too much like Webster to a dog.. and I think too boyish!
I really liked the name Cosby when we were picking names for Webster. What is it with those 80's sitcoms - I guess it's because my family had a great time watching them together! And then there was the Knight Rider vs Airwolf battle, but that's a whole different thread :-)
I agree about reusing names. We have had 2 Ebony's in our family (many years apart). Our neighbor always has a female dachshund and always names her Emily. She is now on Emily 3. She claims it saves her from having to learn a new name...
Which is a bit farther than I would take it but...I still think reusing is fine.

When naming Tara I thought it was important to have a name that absolutely identified gender. People seem to have so much trouble with the "he" "she" issue. This may just be a pet peeve of mine...but even the vets seem to lose track of it. And I'm thinking "Geez, buddy, you SPAYED her-you ought to know she's a GIRL!"

In the past we had a shorthaired female named Her-She who people ALWAYS called "he" and a long haired male who was always identified as "she". Ugh. People don't seem to have trouble knowing "Tara" is female. And the pink coat probably helps! LOL!
I used to babysit for a family that had a succession of brown boxers. They named them all Beau and all were not great dogs - so don't re-use Beau! On the other hand my husband's family had a dog they dearly loved named Fawn. They named one of her pups Fawn2 and she was as wonderful as her mom. Go figure.
