I am trying to break Harry off the wee wee pads and train him outside. Any tips on how this transition or training process can go smoothly?

Our routine right now is:
6:30am - walk
feed
9:00am - walk
1:00pm - walk (i come home from work and walk him)
6:00pm - feed then long walk (take him for at least an hour to 2 hour walk)
11:30pm - last walk before bed
2am or 3am - if he wakes up take him for another quick walk

We only started this routine on Sunday and He has only gone outside like twice. He waits then will come back in the house and go on the wee wee pads. I am hoping we can break him of this habit. The 2 times he has gone outside i make sure to praise him and give him a treat.

Any suggestions oor tips would be appreciated :-)

I'm running into similar issues as you. Ellie just got all her shots on Monday so I started taking her outside. She got use to pooping outside quickly but the peeing is still an issue. Since I live in an apt buildling, I've been carrying her to the elevators, down, thru the lobby, and then outside so she can pee. It's a bit much but it makes her realize she can't pee inside.

I've tried taking away her pad and as soon as I see her going in the direction looking for her pad I scoop her up and take her outside. That seems to be working cause I don't let her in the apt until she's gone pee pee. At times I wait about 10 - 15 minutes (making no eye contact) and she realizes she can't go inside unless she goes.

I'd be interested in what others suggest bc I need tips!
try placing some used wee wee pads outside...sometimes that helps, and when they go poop don't clean up right away they might go back there again and go, also if there are designated areas or areas you know are used by other dogs...they will pick up their scents and go.
i live in a apt as well, so when he poops i have to pik it up right away, cant leave it there.
