The article I have a link to on cnn.com states that the chemicals in the Glade Plug-ins and a few other household cleaners can cause health problems in dogs. I've also heard that Frabreeze can cause health problems as well.
Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

Here is another informative link: (thank you F, Calla & Luca for providing it)

Added note:
I have had pet birds for 20 years and I'm always very conscious of any airborne type cleaners, fragences, etc. as this potential hazards can kill them. Even overheating teflon coated pans can kill a bird and I've had a friend who lost her bird to this mistake. I remember hearing stories a few years ago when Febreeze came out on the market that it was causing health issues in dogs and cats whose owners would spray their animal beds and couches with the fabric freshener.
Here is a link to a news report on ABC about if these kinds of reports are true or not.

I, personally, still try to be more cautious regardless of what is being reported.

I totally believe this and also am concerned with people using Swiffers...they have been proven to cause serious liver damage. For years, I have only used vinegar & water for my floors, windows, counter tops, general dusting and other household issues. We also use healthy, organic & biodegradable laundry & dish detergent. We try to also use as many healthy & organic toiletries as well. It is something more people need to think about especially with children & pets in their home. Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention Sharlan!
That's true, F but I think that Miss Ellie is using "organic" in a different sense-that being the one used when referring to organic foods and products geared toward the more health conscious portion of the populace. I haven't seen organic petroleum on the shelves at Whole Foods Market but to be honest I haven't looked for it either. :)
Yes, thank you Ricki...that is exactly what I meant. All natural, wholesome ingredients...I can assure you F that I am not using petroleum in any of my cleaning products...LOL.
SNOPES says the thing about Swiffer being dangerous to people and pets is false. Here is a link from the ASPCA... That being said, I highly recommend using vinegar as a cleaning agent.
I use vinegar for the inside of the microwave and a few other things, but I really don't think it smells clean. We had a discussion about this here once before, I couldn't find it, but I had a friend who cleaned with vinegar, and to me, her house smelled like my grandmother's old apartment building when someone was putting up pickles and sauerkraut.
I love the smell of vinegar (ACV) in the morning... Sorry, I couldn't resist and it's all I can remember from that other discussion. :)
C'mon, you don't remember bubbies and bubbe meises? Or "bubba mices" ?
I do but I can't follow the thread of thought here.
Oh YES!!!! I did forget it was from that discussion though. I probably shouldn't tell you this but I have absorbed that expression into my vocabulary and made it my own. I now call people who annoy me either bubbe meises or the singular ( in my world) a bubbe mouse. Since it really has no definition in my world I also use it to mean something nice like cute little bubbe mieses.
And F said I had reached the top of my wisdom curve...what does she know...:)
I LOVE it!!!!
