Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I always check the "free" section of www.craigslist.org and this a.m. I saw an ad for 2 free labradoodle brothers that are 5 years old.  I called the lady and she is no longer able to keep them because of an illness.  She told me she has called the local humane society and they won't take them.  She contacted the local lab rescue and they won't take them because they are a "lab mix".

Does anyone know of a rescue in the SW Florida area?  I would really like to help these dogs and lady find a good place for them.  Unfortunately, since I already have Wally (my beloved labradoodle) and a smaller dog, I cannot keep them.

There are two nationwide doodle rescue groups:

Doodle Rescue Collective:
http://doodlerescueinc.ning.com/

IDOG:
http://idog.biz/IDOGRescue.html

Then there is Petfinder's local shelter & rescue listings. You plug in your state, zip, or whatever, and you will get a list of local rescue groups and shelters.

You can respond to the Craig's list ad with any or all of this info, and explain to the person that advertising their dogs on CL leaves them open to being "adopted" by backyard breeders (if they are not neutered/spayed) or even worse, by fighting dog rings that will use them as bait dogs, or "batchers" who will sell them to labratories for product testing and vivisection.
Tell them that the DRC or IDOG will place their dogs in carefully pre-screened safe homes.
Darn it!!!! I just replied to the lady with the info and she's already removed the ad!!!!!! I hope they find a home - I'll bookmark this in case this ever comes up again!!!!

Thanks for the info.
