Can you make the pictures smaller? If you don't have a photo editing program, just download irfanview.com.

Or email me the picture, I'll do it for you (marijaandreic@hotmail.com), and email it back to you. Heck, there's nothing more fun to do, anyway - we are snowed in (for Seattle, it means not even an inch of snow :-))), the schools are closed, the kids are playing in the yard with the puppy, and I am baking brownies, and Doodle-kissing, still in my pajamas... What size do you want it to be (in inches)?

Maya
Thank you Maya for the offer to do it for me - that is so nice of you! :-) But I mess around so much in here that I figured it would be better to learn how to do it myself - wouldn't want to keep pestering you every time I wanted to change something. You are a gem for offering tho - thanks!
Denise, thank you so much for putting your question out here for all to see :-)
This will help others learn from your question!

What Maya has said is correct. Your photos in their original size are HUGE (as are pretty much all photos straight out of a camera) so they take up the whole page because that is their actual size. So you must resize your photos to fit where you want to place them. A number of different photo editing programs are capable of doing this. Most new computers have such programs, there are also many online programs that are free. Http://www.Photobucket.com, http://picasa.google.com/, and http://flickr.com all have various editing options but I'm not certain if they all have resizing options. My favorite is Flickr.com and Picasa.google.com.

In this discussion: http://doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/get-out-your-glitter-and you will find some instructions on more things to do to your page along with some video instructions in the comments.

PS to all members...if you have "HOW TO" questions instead of sending them to me...PLEASE place them here in the forum and then select the category: "HOW TO Questions about Doodle Kisses" -- this will file them away under that category and when you search the forum you can specifically select categories and know where to find answers!
Thanks Adina - I will go check that other forum out...
I have Picasa - I love the program too, use it ALL the time, but there is no resizing there that I could find. I had joined Flickr a while back and tried there and they have a resizing too and I copied the html to DoodleKisses. I think I have it - but now I'm thinking my page looks too cluttered!
If you upload your photo somewhere (say, photobucket.com) you can then alter the HTML that you use to put it on your page.

For instance, this photo:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/itwassimplyfate/what2.jpg

Which looks like:

The HTML to display it on your page is this (with the *'s removed):
<*img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/itwassimplyfate/what2.jpg"*>

To adjust the width of the photo, simply play with a few numbers, if I want it really small, I would use 200 width:
<*img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/itwassimplyfate/what2.jpg" width=200"*>

Which looks like this:

*EDIT* THE FOLLOWING (BORDER) DOES NOT WORK ON THE FORUM, BUT IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THE CODES IT WILL WORK ON YOUR PAGE!*

You can also add a border and adjust the width of the border:
<*img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/itwassimplyfate/what2.jpg" border=1*>

Which looks like:

Or if you want it really thick:
<*img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/itwassimplyfate/what2.jpg" border=20*>

Which looks like:

Sorry if this is too much info, but I think it's easier than manually changing the picture size in a program because often the quality is reduced when you reduce the photo size, etc. Just remember to copy and paste the codes and remove the *'s!
Shrinking the photo shouldn't affect the quality--not if the shrinking is symmetrically done--it's enlarging a photo that changes the quality because the program has to invent pixels where there were none in order to make it bigger and so you lose clarity and quality.

Now, regarding the photobucket codes above--where does a person put these codes when wanting to put photos into their page decor? I'm actually not sure myself... LOL
In Flickr - there is a html to copy - then in DK to open a picture, you click "browse" and a photo thing opens up - just paste the HTML there on the "file" box and click open. At least that's what I did.
wow...I'm so confused! It's so interesting to see how people do the same thing different ways :)
LOL-- there are many ways to do this :-)
what I can remember is if using the photo bucket codes worked to get photos into the header and the sides of pages since I always just upload straight from my computer files. when I put photos into discussions or text boxes I use the image button and pull from my computer files. But using photo bucket codes works too!
Yep, I mispoke about the clarity thing, but you got what I meant :)

I put the codes in the blank box on my DK page, if you look at my page, I have all of the HTML in the first box on the page.
another thing you can do is use is picnik..it is a great online photo editing web site, that not only lets you resize your photos but lets you do some fun things with your photos!!

good luck

and if i already have the pics on my puter i open them in paint hit image click on strech/skew and i use stretch and take out the 100 in each box and start out with 60 and see where you end up...it is very simple and then just hit save and it will save it that size.
That sounds easy enough - does it make a second picture that is smaller - or does it change the original?
