Curious about how much walking everyone here does with their Doodles ?

I have an almost 7-month Toy Goldendoodle.  I live in a small 1-BR condo so doing stuff inside is kind of tough.  I can't let him run around outside since I don't live in a house with some acreage and outside of late-at-night when nobody is up off-leash running is a no-no.

Teddy goes out 6-7 times a day to do his business.  Some are 5-10 minutes; others are 20-30 minute walks (if it's raining real hard, those can be 3 minutes and 10 minute, respectively).  I've been tracking him the last month or so (it's Winter here in the NYC area) and on average I'd say he is walking about 75 minutes a day.  Miserable rain maybe 45 minutes; very nice day maybe 90 minutes.

Some nights I will throw him the ball and he'll chase it 10-12 times running hard back-and-forth 50-75 feet or so.  2-3 times a week he is playing at a Dog Park/Pen anywhere from 1/2 to 1 hour.

I've been watching his protein intake on his snacks because a friend warned me that too much protein leads to kidney/liver problems in (inactive) dogs.  I guess the more active a dog is, the higher he can utilize more protein.

Anyway....how much activity do your dogs get ?

Thanks Karen....now my only fear is to NOT get him groomed during a rainy week.  Talk about a blown-out hairstyle going to waste after only a few minutes of being out in the rain !! LOL :-)

I live where it doesn't rain that much, but we are having a very wet winter.  When my dogs come in from a longer potty break, I press a towel to their bodies which includes an extra swipe and squeeze to the feet to soak up excess water, then let the rest air dry.

Good to know Nancy....need to get Teddy used to a blow-dryer or electric toothbrush for when he gets clipped at the groomers (so far, just styling).  He doesn't even like me to dry his feet with a dry rag now, you can imagine how he reacts to noisy machines or even a combing/brushing.

He's a puppy and will get used to both the dryer and the foot drying.  :-}
