Brinkley's situation reminded me topost this. Huff is 2 and 9 mos and has always been a very picky eater. We have fed him a mix of good dog food and homade food, which any doggie in their right minds would LOVE, even my grandma's dog who has been staying with us. He wont eat. Friday or Saturday he did an amazing thing, he ate all by him self, no bribing he ate 2 bowls of food. The last couple of days we have just kept leaving his food on the floor for him to eat, but he refuses to eat.

He hasn't eaten his dinner for almost 3 days, he sniffs and walks away, maybe he is on strike?

He has only about 3-5 small cookies a day. He plays in the backyard and in the house but isn't giving into the food. I want him to eat so that he dosen't get sick.

He is really starting to worry me.

Bryce, if he is playing and acting normally and is drinking water then I would not be worried just yet.  It may be very hot where you are?  Hopefully he will start back eating soon. I would not leave food down for him for hours,  if he doesn't eat it lift it after half an hour and try again later in the day.

I think he might want to eat now, we will try again. I know it sounds like I am griping and thank you for puting up wih it but I am at a lose with his eating.

It's better to be concerned than not and this is a good place to put down your thoughts if you are at all worried.  I had a very frustrating few days with Riley a few months ago when I was also quite worried so I do understand.  I really believe that Huff will not starve himself and he will eat soon again.

Has he stopped eating since your Grandma's dog has been staying with you? Maybe  he is upset about the change in the household?

He has always had eating problems, it isn't new. Besides my grandma's dog has been staying here for more than 2 months. He is just pickey.

I too wonder about the heat.  Gavin going off his food generally means one of three things:  1. he has not had enough exercise (he likes to work for his food) and a good long walk and a play session solves it  2. the weather has suddenly gotten hot (he needs a couple of days to adjust but always eats less in the warm weather)  3.  he is ill (in that case he is also lethargic, panting or has a fever).  In desperate situations I add canned Trippett's Tripe to his dry food.  Very stinky but very effective.  Good luck.

.His hair is too long, we will most likely get it cut in the summer.

Hope Huff is eating something and feeling better!
