I know this has been posted before but I was hoping someone can help me out!!! We have puppy play time in my backyard with 3 other female dogs and Wilson has been trying to Hump one of the girls she is about his size, well I thought that was under control I would get him off and look him in the eyes and tell him NO
Well now we have another female in the balance she is a LabCharPei (i think i spelled it wrong)mix well last night he kept going after her and I put him down and laid him on his back looked him in the eyes until he looked away But man oh man he kept trying to do "it" and each time I would down him and give him a "time out" He did get tired eventually
One of my neighbor's suggested a shock collar I don't wont to do that and neither does my DH, another neighbor said it would wear off and Wilson would get tired of trying "IT"
I think I have to use a stronger voice
Any suggestions would be grateful He is not dominate in any other way
Riley never really humped other dogs, but for the first year, he would hump his bed every night. I stopped him everytime it happened, and then he eventually stopped......but his new humping friend is my leg! It doesn't occur all the time (maybe three times a month), but it only happens when I'm walking him in public (of course), and only during evenings on days when he doesn't go to daycare. He'll just run up behind me and start grabbing onto my leg as I'm walking. Sometimes, he'll hump my leg when he's doing something that he doesn't want to do (e.g., pulling him one direction when he wants to go the other way). Case in point: Riley and I were walking, and I ran into a woman with a tiny toy dog who was getting people to sign a petition to get somebody on the ballot for a local election. Because Riley is so energetic, I didn't allow him to greet the other dog for fear that Riley's spin-in-place move would trample the other dog. Well, he didn't like this, so as I'm trying to sign the petition, he humps my leg. The woman is looking at me in disdain and saying "Well, somebody needs some training." I wanted to throw that petition in her face (I didn't) and tell her that Riley is a superstar in Rally and Agility classes, thank you very much.
At other times, he starts humping because he gets really excited all of the sudden. One time, we were at a pedestrian crosswalk at a busy intersection, and I started to run with him to the median because there was an approaching car. Well, he got really excited and started humping my leg from behind as we're trying to cross the street. I'm doing my best to run across the street quickly with Riley because a car was coming, and at the same time, I'm wildly reaching behind in vain to push him off my leg. It must have been a sight because the approaching car slowed, and this guy rolled down the window and said "He must REALLY like you!"
ROFLOL! I can only imagine the scene as you crossed the street. That lady sounded pretty obnoxious!
Porter occasionally humps for dominance when on his own turf. He is more likely to pee on top of his friends' pee.
He'll hump for excitement (not that kind, I swear) if I dance in front of him. I don't dance w/in his sight anymore as I have learned my lesson. I practice a routine in a locked room by myself. Unfortunately, it sounds like Riley is excited by stuff you can't really avoid, so you are stuck trying to work with him on it.
Well my friends Wilson was a little bit better last night at play time Julia and Him would at least play for 5 minutes wrestling and such then he would swing his leg and oops I said No down ad he'd go down right away a few times he would see me then just go down he new Julia would just stay by him she would not run away after he was told down.
So last night was better and I think each time it will get better What a Stud Muffin LOL LOL
