Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know this has been a discussion before, but , could not find it,

Wilson likes to try hump our neighbor's black lab.  She does have beautiful long legs !!  LOL sorry just a little laughter,  I no this is a dominance thing but I do NOT no how to stop him.

He is 4 years old you would think by now he would want not to try !! He is fixed and when I seen him try the Furry Paw I Yell STOP  I do spray water in his face and  take my hands and look directly into his eyes.!!!

The only time he tries the Furry Paw is when Mocha comes over, and she lives behind us,but, yesterday we were at the dog park , and he tried it on another Male dog, The owner said she was okay with it  but I am not !!

Please help any advice at all would be appreciated !!

There are others, but this is my very favorite "humping" discussion:

Poor Rua will never live down this video....shame on Dori! Ha ha ha

I ran across this article recently that offers a different approach to why dogs hump. Not sure I agree with it but in some ways it makes sense. Tara only  humps two of her stuffies. Both of them are bigger than her and I don't know if she is dominating the toys or if she is trying to get them to play after reading this article! LOL!

Maybe rather than correcting him you could try redirecting with a toy or something that he can bite on and see if that makes any difference.

Vern does this every now and then to Fudge and usually she corrects him. If she doesn't, I tell him "off" and make him stop. Wilson looks too cute in that picture to be naughty :) Also, you could try distracting him with a toy. Good luck!

There is an article in this month's Bark magazine on this issue.  The other day Moose was accused of being a "Molester" because he humped a new dog at the dog park.  Little bit of over-reacting.

I stand corrected the owner of the new dog told another person at the dog park that her dog had been raped by the Irish Wolfhound.  WTD!!!

I'm ok with dogs humping each other because thats what they do unless it becomes excessive.  Oliver never humps anyone except once on Sasha when he was a puppy.  The strange thing is that Sasha humps ME when I sit down at the dining room table every single time - LOL   I just push her off and say NO !!!!

Thank you all for your reply's   they all have helped me out, and I do realize that when Mocha comes over, she is so love with this green ball we have in our yard, she is not paying attention to Wilson,so that is the reason he wants to chase her, and he does become submissive, and loves it when when she has the ball in her mouth and is teasing him.

Wilson got a little taste last night on our walk with another doodle Buddy trying the Furry Paw on him, ooops Wilson was like What the Doodle is going on   LOL LOL  I laughed,

What goes around comes around Wilson!! LOL!

LOL LOL  That is exactly what I told Wilson and he just looked at me and Smiled !

That little rascal!!! LOL!

My two Doods have turned humping into an "art form".  They take turns, but Guinness is usually the one initiating it.  I always stop it and tell them "no"....now they go into another room and hide.
