I Can Get DK Members a small discount on Pet Insurance...but a question...

I just spoke with VPI Insurance and I can get a small discount for DK Members if we partner up with them.  But it got me thinking...why not check what a couple OTHER pet insurances might offer.  I'm not as familiar with which is most desireable/popular among the various insurance companies.  Besides VPI...what other TWO would you say would be best to check on?  If we can get a better deal for everyone that would be ideal.  If not then I'm happy to go with VPI and all DK members will then get a little bit of a break when buying their insurance.

Speak out!  Vote for which other two I should persue info on!

Nancy is correct. My Labradoodle was half the price in premiums compared to my DD's French Bulldog. I have PetPlan and I do not remember having to choose purebred.
Maybe they changed it. I can choose mixed breed, which is what I will do. I just didn't know if it mattered since there is an option under purebred for Goldendoodle. I will go with mixed breed.

Check to see what your vet has down on your records, though. My vet has JD listed as a Lab cross, so I could use "mixed breed". If your dog's vet records say Goldendoodle, you may have to go with that.

I looked at the PetPlan website, and apparently, the "mixed breed" designation is a catchall for dogs whose exact breed mix is not known, or not popular enough for them to have it listed as a "breed".

I may be in luck, b/c I don't get my Dood for another 3+ weeks...so he hasn't been to my vet yet! So...should I purchase the pet insurance before his first vet visit, or after?
I am VERY interested! I called the Vet we will be using. The insurance they accept is VPI. They spoke very highly of it. Talking about strict standards with the Vets that use it...which speaks well of the vet we will use. She gave me the website, which I bookmarked. How many people do you need to join in for the savings? While I am writing.... Is pet insurance something that you need for an amount of time BEFORE you can be reimbursed, or once signed up, you can begin using? Our pup comes in November, so I thought I would check out insurance now. Thanks
Question, on my previous post I mentioned that my Vet uses VPI. I would pay the Vet at the time of service, then send in paperwork for reimbursement. If that is the case, with them NOT filing. Would I be free to do the same thing if I found a plan with better premiums etc...or even if I am doing the filing, does it have to be a insurance provider the Vet accepts? I did call VPI for quotes, but was interested in getting quotes from a couple of other insurances. Any knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
