I did something stupid ... not sure who else to ask...should I see a doctor?

This is really dumb and has nothing at all to do with doodles, dogs, pets of any kind. It has to do with me being an idiot.

I just hit my head, really hard. I wacked it against the corner of the cupboard door in the kitchen when I got up from putting the dog food in the bowl (ok, I knew I could tie in the doodles). anyway, it really hurts, it's like pulsating sharp pain. It hasn't stopped for about 30 minutes. The pain is spreading and I'm getting a headache and it hurts when I touch the spot. I've never hit my head this hard. I googled around for answers but it seems like there are a lot of internet forums with really stupid and unreliable advice. So, my question is, do I have a concussion or something or am I over reacting?

Am I supposed to go to bed and sleep it off or keep myself awake in case I never wake up and my doodles end up eating my dead body. I better show them where the kibble is just in case...

Sorry for the odd question but I tried calling a couple of people and nobody is around. i figure there are a bunch of nurses and moms on the site who might know if I should wait it out or go see a doctor ...

Also, I had just poured myself a glass of wine. Do I drink it to numb the pain or do I avoid it incase I'm about to have an anurysm (sp??) or stroke or something? Just wondering ...

...I'm leaning towards drinking the wine.

Good news, I would have felt guilty for contributing to your premature demise : ) Remember to monitor yourself for some time to come for symptoms from the "nut" which I think will not materialize.

well, the pain is back to being really strong again and has spread across to the other side of my head. How much nausea do you reckon I should be worried about? I feel mild nausia, not like I'm actually going to vomit, but I certainly don't feel like eating anything and finding out...

Sherri, I really think it's time to get it checked out. Can you safely get to an ER?

Sherri, If it were me, I would call the doctor. Better safe than sorry!

If this was one of my grown children given these symptoms there would be no question....I would strongly encourage them to get to the ER to have it checked out.  Actually, I'd probably take them myself.  Maybe it is nothing, but why take that chance.  You have nothing to lose but a few hours and you will at least have peace of mind.

Sherri, I'm not a doctor (actually, I am, but not that kind of doctor) it sounds like you could have a mild concussion--please go to the ER or a walk-in clinic so that we can stop worrying about you. ;)

I think it's time to get it checked.   Better safe than sorry Sherri!    Keep us posted : )

Maybe going to an urgent care, or the Canadian equivalent, would be a good idea. I don't like the recurrence of more severe pain and the nausea.

I made an appointment with my doctor for 3:45pm.  I honestly think I'm fine. It's just one of those things that will take a few days to shake off...but yes, better safe than sorry.

I'm glad to hear it. Let us know.

Glad to hear you survived, I know exactly what that pain feels like, having done the same thing myself more than once. You think I would have learned the first time. :>)

We all like to check out the strength of our skulls once in a while, right?
