We are still trying... i have been offered a courtesy post on Pet Finder.. gosh there are 4 pages of kitties. Wish us luck
Several days ago while I sat on our back deck, a very skinny cat appeared at my feet. She was crying, obviously hungry, covered in ticks. My mind fast forwarded to OH NO, NOT HERE! I tried to scoot her away but she just kept coming back to me and rubbing against my legs.
DH picked her up and we discovered that she has no front claws. So of course we had to feed her, had to spray Frontline on her, had to show her where she could get out of the weather. Neither of us cares much for cats (from past experience), and having one in the house will absolutely not happen. I've been posting on lost pet pages on internet, sending emails to everyone I know to please adopt her.
I really don't want to spend money on her...:( She hisses and swats at Monty, which really bugs me. She stands at the back screen door constantly and cries for attention..... Sigh
She really is a lovely cat that needs an indoor home with people that will love her. Please send positive thoughts that a good home can be found.

I am a cat lover but I can understand how difficult this must be for non-cat lovers. It doesn't seem like you have had much of a choice with the kitty being so persistent but thank you for what you have done for him. I hope that you are able to find a home or rescue for this kitty soon. Do you have any friends that are cat lovers?
I'm going to put up some flyers in our area, but we are so rural, I'm betting someone dropped her off. I seen her in the woods over 2 weeks ago. She is so friendly. As soon as I go out on the deck she jumps into my lap.
Do you have a local shelter where she would not be put down? Another idea would be your Vet....mine often has "looking for a good home" signs in her office.
I have no idea. There are so many shelters and I have to find one that will even accept another cat. All of this is taking a lot of time. My issue is that I didn't choose to foster her, but I cant just turn her away.
Sharon, if she is intact, it's only a matter of time before you have lots of kittens and then cats and then a whole feral colony living on your property. The only other option is to immediately stop feeding her and paying any attention to her, and hopefully she will go elsewhere. I have known many people who started out just feeding a friendly stray cat ended up with hundreds of cats on their property. At that point, sadly, someone is going to call animal control and they will all be destroyed. Contact a local Humane Society in your area that has a spay/neuter and release program, there should not be any cost to you. I'll get you the link to shelters in your area. BRB.
She does not leave the deck, she is there when we get up in the morning, looking in and crying at the screen door. Hoping she will leave isn't an option. We live in the mountains, there isn't anywhere for her to go, and go she should not as she does not have claws. There is a large kennel on our property with some old dog houses, we could always lock her in there.
I think it would be unusual for a person to declaw their cat and not have her spayed?
We will take care of her for while to see if an owner is seeking her, I'm posting on another website today and getting flyers made.
You would think that someone who would declaw a cat would also spay her, but that's not always the case. People declaw cats for their own selfish reasons, i.e. so the cat won't ruin their things. To spend money to spay the cat for her own benefit might not be a priority. Or they might be the type of person who thinks spaying/neutering is cruel or unnatural, or they might think it would be a good idea for her to have kittens so the children can see the miracle of birth, and there are probably other stupid reasons I haven't heard of yet, lol.
Here you go, they are listed alphabetically by town. You might check the cat rescues if you see any near you as well. At the least, they can give you some advice.

Hope you can find this little girl a good home. Living in the country, we've had our share of abandoned kitties showing up on our doorstep, so I know what you're going through. Good luck!!!
Good luck on finding the cat a home. You have done a good deed for this poor kitty.
I used to be a cat person, but family allergies have changed that. Thank you for intervening so far. Please continue to be kind to her like you have and find a vet or no-kill shelter. If she has no front claws, she really cannot fend well for herself. The hissing at Monty is her only protection.

I hope this helps! She looks like a beautiful cat, but I'm allergic, too, so not really a cat person.
Thanks for helping this cat in need!
