Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Today on my walk with the dogs I was thinking about the past couple of weeks on DK and a few things that have been bothering me. I think I have come up with a fair solution and a way to make things better. One of the biggest complaints on DK is the number of times repeat questions are asked in the open forum, instead of using the search engine to see if we have discussed the topic before. It gets tiresome to see the same questions over and over and makes some of us grumpy. It is also not fair that the same people have to answer the same questions over and over again and then get to hear that they were not nice enough or welcoming. Well, on my walk today I figured out that we should have different members assigned to different areas of expertise and they field those questions. Now mind you, there may be room for improvement on some of what gets assigned to whom, but I figured we could work on this group together and get the list down pat. So far, this is what I have come up with.
Please find a way to do this nicely and if you need an assistant Hokumer, please feel free to pick anyone but me, because I am far too busy.
making birth look something like this:
Allyson, thank you for your help.
or you admit publicly you do not have a Les Poochs brush or they simply don’t like your question, the designated groomer from your area is dispatched immediately to confiscate your dog help.
please refer them to our new senior group called, “Newfangled Electronics are Killing me,” led by my mother.
I have given this my best shot, and I could go on and on, but I never like to overstay my welcome. In conclusion, let’s see a show of hands from everyone that would like an eject button for any member that gets on our nerves. For example, if someone posts a picture repeatedly after being asked to stop, a tribal council would meet to decide if they might vote that person off DK. The only thing that could save them is if they have an immunity necklace photo shopped on a picture by their daughter.
Any other suggestions are welcome unless of course, you disagree with me and then please say nothing.

when I first joined DK, I would use my lunch hour to go through all the old discussions (there are a LOT in the grooming group and food group) and then I either book marked the ones that I found very useful or copied the link to a word doc. It took a long time but I learned so much that way. I came across things I never would have thought to search for. I even found answers to questions that I didn't know that I had. lol
Star, the best thing to do is to laugh with us and try not to take things too personally or too seriously. The way to ease into a new environment is try to put your focus on others. Get to know us, join in and participate. Let us get to know you. It isn't only about advice or questions and answers. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't all have the opportunity to post "Happy Birthday" to someone's dog in their blog post or "I hope she feels better" to someone's discussion about a sick dog. Anyone can do that, old or new member. What makes us a close knit family is that we all care very deeply about each other and about each other's dogs, and we let them know that we do. The people here have huge hearts, and there is always room for more people who feel the same way. Oh, and a sense of humor doesn't hurt, lol.
Please, just join in. We are Harmless, well some of us are harmless and the others don't know where the rest of us live (exactly).
LOL
Star, just join in the fun. There are definitely some members who are certifiably nuts but, it won't take long for you to figure out who they are. The rest of us are sedate retired folk who like dogs.
The coats are hilarious...I did crack up over Spuds balls.
Loved all of them Laurie.
Thanks, Pam. Spud's balls are always good for a laugh.
Speaking of Spud's balls. I did not neuter him until it was almost unbearable as I wanted him to get all his hormones, etc ( oh, another hot topic)
He had huge black balls with a white coat. I remember meeting Adrianne Matzkin in PA one day and she was DISGUSTED!
Yes I was!! But he was so darn adorable I just had to remind myself not to look, which was impossible!
It was........... just ...... can't describe. And he was shaved and just ..... well ...........now that i think back~ OH MY~
