1. I've not heard of this for dogs. I'm understanding your dog is a puppy, though. I don't think you need calming herbs/oils as much as understanding that pups are NOT calm and as he matures, LOTS of obedience training to help you control her. Is this an issue of doggy anxiety or doggy energy?
2. Tire him out, give him something to chew on, try a better brush, teach him to lie still and take it one step at a time.
3. Every food is different. If you feed a lower quality food it takes more of it to fill a dog up.
4. Others have answered this question quite well..
5. You can use his food as treats and only give him as much as he'd normally eat total in a day.
Lots of good advice here. I'm a Les Poochs brush fan as well. Our Sophie hated being brushed until we got this brush. Now she is fine with it, but don't pick up the comb. The only thing I would add is if you aren't putting him up on something to brush him I would suggest trying that. Like a grooming table or an island or other raised surface. Sometimes that calms them a little bit (rather than trying to brush on the sofa or floor or something like that.)
