So many names to choose from... I need input!! I like the name to have some meaning so have come up with some themes...
MUSIC since we are getting our baby in Nashville... Johnny Cash?? We dont love much country music but do all like Johnny Cash.
MUPPET themed names because doodles look so muppetish, but the kids aren't going along with Fozzie or Grover...
COLOR For his red color I like Tabasco - 'Basco' for short...
The kids are rooting for Marley which is a great name too - but since the book/movie seems too obvious..??
Any ideas? Votes?

My dh and I had a list which we discussed as we drove the hours home with Ned. Ned was my dh's top pick and it suited him so our decision was easy. With Clancy, our rescue, I solicited suggestions from dk members like you have. The winning name was after fellow member Nancie Casey's adult son, although a very close second was Hula. It is still on my list for future pups.
This is definitely a good resource for names... my list has grown quite a bit in the past day! I appreciate all the great feedback...
I totally agree Suzanne, when I was on the road to pick up my puppy I had already chosen the name "Murphy". Once I had him in my arms and got him home, his goofy antics and silly demeanor had me call him Stanley because the name AND the puppy made me laugh. Being huge comic book fans/collectors I change the spelling and kept the name hence the end result of "Stanlee".
Martha, I'm going to place a bet here and now that the name you pick out before you get your puppy is not the name the pup ends up with. Any takers?
I am in touch with several of the families from Whidbey's litter, and same exact thing you said- two of them changed the names of their babies once they got home! I do believe they pick their own names.... Sometimes we get them right- and in Whidbey's case.. the name came to me,, and she liked it, which was also good.
No doubt Martha will do the same thing- she will go through several, and once that baby comes home.. BINGO.. he will tell her what his name is!
Also be careful if you choose a name based on the color of your dog. A red puppy can fade out. My Ollie was red as a puppy but is now cream/apricot colored.
Good point!
