Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Banjo is just over four years old now. For most of his years he's been sleeping in our bedroom in "his" chair, on his bed or next to our bed on the floor. He doesn't leave our room ever except on particularly warm summer nights he may go downstairs to get a drink and will come right back to bed.
This morning when I got out of bed he was no where to be seen. My heart skipped a beat as I walked to the door to look downstairs into the living area from our loft. No Banjo. WTD?!!!! I stood quietly for a brief second thinking I'd hear him coming around the corner from the kitchen....still nothing. By this time I was getting scared thinking he must be sick....where could he be? I quickly went downstairs and looked in the kitchen.....nothing....the bathroom...nothing....the guest bedroom. There he was! On the bed right in the middle of a nice long stretch before laying down again to wait for his morning "snuggles".
Oddly enough, I actually felt sort of hurt. Why would he suddenly leave our bedroom to go down and sleep by himself? This is a dog who comes to the bathroom with me. He is always by my side. If I go downstairs, he goes downstairs. If I go upstairs, he goes upstairs. I was thinking there must be something wrong...something he isn't telling me.
It finally dawned on me this afternoon what this sudden change of habit was about. We're getting ready to head to Florida for February. I have our half-packed suitcases and bags on the bed in the guest room. Banjo saw these same bags about a week ago when DH and I had to leave him to attend a wedding in Chicago. I think he just didn't want to take any chances that we might try to slip away under the cover of darkness. He knew if he slept next to those bags we couldn't escape without him!
Poor dood......if he only knew he was going to his favorite beach in the whole world!!!! I'm curious to see what tonite brings!
