I've gone back to school, and I am wondering if anyone does face time with their dog?

I haven't been around too much, I've had a lot going on in my life. I started back to school in January and it's the first time Max has ever been alone. I actually think he's adjusting just fine but I am having trouble with it. I have been walking him in the morning before I go to school (1.5 miles) then again at lunch (1.5 miles again)  so he's getting lots of exercise and he has free run of the house. I was thinking of doing face time with him though on my ipad, apparently it's not too hard to set up. I am just wondering if anyone else has tried this at all? I also added a few pics, cause I know everyone loves pics. One of Christmas, and one of his recent grooming.

Linda you're probably right that he's doing just fine. He does have two cats to keep him company (well they ignore him but still he's not all alone). That's cute that Charlie wants your daughter to just come on in.

Nancy, that's true that it can't take the place of my being there and you're probably right too that he's just fine without me.

You know, a long time ago we had a sheltie and a cat - they "just tolerated" each other or so we thought!  One time we came home unexpectedly and both of them came out of the doghouse!  We just sat in the car with our mouths hanging open in shock!  I swear they both had a guilty look on their face ;)

When we leave Gavin for several hours I leave music on for him very low. We tell ourselves he is probably thinking "thank God they are gone so I can get some peace and quiet for a change." Are you able to set up a web cam to try and see what he does? I think that would be interesting and would likely ease your mind. Cute pics btw!

I've tried Skyping with my dog while she stayed with a friend. She wasn't at all interested. She seemed confused at first by the sound of my voice but then just wandered off.

Wendy that would be funny if I saw that. I don't think that happens but I guess you never know right?

BG that's a good idea about setting up a camera, just to watch him for a bit rather than try and talk to him, I think I will try that sometime this week.I do leave the tv on for him usually, I tried to put it on dog tv but apparently that is extra lol.

Jen that's probably what Max would do too, he's really not very interested in tv or computers.

My husband travels for work occasionally.  Sometimes we face time.  The first time, Alma was so confused.  She could hear his voice and see his face on the ipad but kept looking around the room for him.  It was funny at first but then we realized how confused she was.  She started whining and crying and running around the room.  We tried again another time but the same thing happened.  If we face time now, we don't let her see or hear the conversation.  You could set it up and see how he does.

I lived in a different state then my parents when I got my golden doodle Sadie and they would FaceTime me just to talk to her. My boyfriend and I FaceTime all the time so he can talk to her. They will respond to your voice and it is adorable. We have two other dogs that also respond to the FaceTime or Skype. I have an Apple TV that I put the FaceTime onto that which is very entertaining watching Sadie interact with that.

Katie and Sadie

Diane that is cute that Alma was looking for him.

Katie lol parents can be so funny, they wanted to facetime the dog!

Max, you are so cute - especially with your big boy tie on!  :)

I got a Dropcam because I wanted to be able to see how Eloise reacted with Beasley in the house.  It satisfied all the curiosity I had about Ellie's days, for sure.  She sleeps and sleeps. :)  She moves from one end of the couch to the other, lol.  I bet Max is quite happy to have the house to himself, and even more happy when you return to him.

It did make me feel better once I saw her on Dropcam, because I always worried / wondered about her - even though I could tell she'd been sleeping when I got home!  I talked to her thru the cam once...that freaked her out!  :)  (But, it wasn't facetime so she couldn't see me - just my voice from out of nowhere...I didn't do that again. Haha)

Julie, I am thinking of just doing the cam first too now. I bet Max is just like Eloise and probably sleeps the whole time. It would ease my mind I think to actually see what he's doing.
