Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Not sure if I should post this to any specific group so posting here. My 1 year 9 month old aussiedoodle Madiba has been experiencing what I guess you what call incontinence. It's very confusing to us. When she was a baby and fell into a deep sleep she would occasionally pee on herself while sleeping even though she was house trained. She didn't even know she did it. Then we had months with no issues. When we moved to Miami about 7 months ago she started swimming in the ocean. We noticed that when she played very hard and exhausted herself, especially if she had been in the water, she would "leak." mostly while sleeping. Lately we've noticed that she leaks while napping or even just laying around, always after play, whether she goes in the water or not. She'll lay down and nap and wake up and have leaked onto her leg and start licking herself to clean up. She was on a med for incontinence for a while, that helped. She doesn't have a UTI, or at least she didn't, maybe she has one now?
The other night she was just leaking everywhere. I just went to clean her bed and found little circles of pee. We did change up her food. She was on Acana wild prairie, we cycled in some other flavors, but she doesn't love acana, we switched to Wilderness Complete health which is definitely likes better. She has also gained weight. We were adding a raw food into her diet that we got from a speciality vet here but since we arrived in Miami she's gone from 31 to 34 pounds. She supposed to be a mini AD. She may now in fact have developed a UTI, she seems to want to pee all the time, but prior to this, she has this constant leaking issue.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on what might be causing it and what we can do?

OK, thanks everyone. I'm a little alarmed and worried now to be honest. She doesn't leak every day. Today we had a leak free day completely. She hasn't been to the beach, but was at day care all day and is exhausted. Sometimes she goes to the beach and swims and has no leaks. it's really weird. I'm making an appointment. We are at banfield for now but as soon as I get a new contract for my business which is imminent and we have better cash flow, I'm taking her to a real vet, we have met several at some humane society events here who are highly regarded. If any of you on here live in South Florida and have a great vet to recommend, please let me know.
I don't wish to add any more alarm, but I do have a relevant situation I went through with my previous yellow lab. Bonny lived to a ripe old age of 13.5 years, but for her last year or year and a half, she also leaked. The vet first attributed this to her aging and we all thought that was a reasonable explanation. She was suffering from arthritis and really slowing down anyway. He gave us an antibiotic that helped with the symptom. But, a week before she died she would not lapse out of the relaxants we gave her one night to stop her pacing around all night. She could not get out of bed so we took her to the vet hospital. They ran every test under the sun except for x-rays and nothing extremely abnormal came up on her blood work. She recovered with an IV and came home with us the next day. She still paced the house at night. When my mother got up the morning after she discovered drops of blood on the floor. Bonny was bleeding through her urinary track, anus, and a sore that wasn't there before in the pit of her hind leg. We took her to the vet again, the vet was sure that she had some kind of mass attached to her kidney, but operating would not be a viable option. We said goodbye two days later.
Just please make sure you receive a visual application of your doodle's body along with the tests. It's better to be safe than sorry in my opinion after what I went through.
