Hi everyone!

Yesterday I brought home the baby I have been dreaming about for 10 years; Henry P Doodle, a 9 week old, 13# standard, parti-color. I am smitten to say the least.

We had a pretty easy first night for driving 3 hours to bring him home. I'm hoping I don't jinx it by saying he spent the first night in his crate by my bedside without a peep and slept the whole night through. We had our first vet appt and it went well. Little porker gained 2# in the last week!

I have a question regarding his vaccinations and immunity. We have a puggle named Jo that goes to the park in back of our house to romp. I'm a bit worried about what he might bring back on his paws before Henry is fully vaxed. Is there a way to disinfect Jo's paws or am I being paranoid? Both our vet and breeder do not want Henry exposed to any public places for at least another 6 weeks when he receives his last boosters, he has had 2 for parvo so far.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Thanks,
Dolly and Henry

What a gorgeous guy. I would just keep your piglet home for 6 weeks. He and Henry can play. I stopped going to dog parks long ago for many reasons. Ny two play in the yard if they want to.

why did you stop going?  we have no experience with dog parks (dante just finished his shots), and I would be interested.  We only have one where we live, and it's only a dog park in the winter, through May1.  so not heavily used, we get 300" of snow here.

There are discussion on dog parks here. I found that some dogs were hardly overseen by their owners despite their bad behavior. Some owners brought sick dogs. It just seemed safer to have the dogs at home. we have had good experiences at doodle romps at the beach.

Thanks :)

I too have not had luck at the dog parks.  Sasha (my 15 month old) went twice, the first time she contracted kennel cough (yes she is immunized).  The second time I took my 5 month old Ginger with us, while I was watching the puppy Sasha was attached by 3 Huskies.  I guess we are done with the dog parks.  I have a large fenced in yard and now let my family's dogs come over and play or go to play group at the dog trainers building.

Jo the puggle is of the mindset, "when does this interloper go away?" We are getting major stink eye and pouting at this point. We keep Henry downstairs where we have all tile except at night when he goes up for bed in our room. Here's to hoping Jo will eventually grow to like his new playmate.

Our Lucy hated AnnaBelle when she first came home.  It was a long couple months.  As AB got bigger Lucy did better with her.  They are now best friends.

That gives me hope! Thanks so much...the puggle is upstairs moping, which doesn't look too different from his normal, long old man naps lol! I have found that he is more tolerant if the are outside and Jo can jump onto a chair or one of the chaises by the pool.

Outside was always better than inside.  When inside Lucy wouldn't even stay in the same room.  She would go clear around into another room to pass by her rather than walk past her.

Henry tries to engage him in play...after getting up in his business. Jo wants nothing to do with it and walks away. After a few minutes Henry gets it that the old man isn't interested and will sit and watch Jo from a few feet away observing him with the expression "what's wrong with you dude, I'm a nice guy!"
