Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone
I have just joined after a few weeks of excited and nervous lurking as we waited to bring our new puppy home; we finally collected him yesterday after what seemed like a very long wait! His name is Hugo and he is a miniature labradoodle. We first met him when he was just under 2 weeks old and then visited him weekly so it was lovely to bring him home feeling as if we already knew him to some extent. He has been absolutely fantastic so far - really happy and confident and eating well. He even slept all night after a few strokes to settle him down (we put his bed in a puppy play pen next to my side of the bed). The only issues we are having so far is our 5 year old bichon who is used to being the baby is a bit put out; she hasn't been at all aggressive to Hugo, just refusing to have much to do with him or us in complete contrast to what she is usually like (despite us all trying to make a huge fuss of her and giving her time on her own etc), our 15 year old springer, who I thought may be the one who took a little while to get used to Hugo, is brilliant with him though.
I've found this site so useful in our puppy preparations and looking forward to being able to share our experiences with Hugo as he grows up!

Congratulations! It took our older dog about 3 mos to really accept the new puppy. They have a way of working it out. Your Hugo is a doll. When you get a chance check out the groups section and join as many as you like. Welcome to DK.
Yay! So exiting! Good luck with your new puppy!
It can take quite a while for the 'family' to blend and the hierarchy to occur. Congrats. Little Hugo is adorable.
