My DH bought me an iPad yesterday...I am pretty excited as I have never had one but I haven't even taken it out of the box yet. Although I am starting to wonder if he is trying to send me over the edge as I am the most un-tech savvy person in the world and his gift of an iMac and PS CS5 is just about to send me to the looney bin...LOL. Just wondering what some of the favorite apps are, what you love about your iPad if you have one, and any cool accessories I should get. He did buy me the smart case for it but I don't like it and am going to return it and get a more stylish leather one. He also got me a camera connection kit with a card reader which I think is very cool.
After my playdate at the pool with my favorite 3 year old today I am going to open the box and get started! Hmmm...come to think of it...my favorite 3 year old is a computer genius..maybe I will ask her what she loves about her iPad..LOL. Thanks for any cool advice on apps and "stuff".

Yes, I have one, but I still need a flat surface for it next to the laptop. Just doesn't lend it self to relaxing on the couch.I am not coordinated enough to use my leg, lol.
I never, ever could use a mouse: ) I use a track ball with my desktop. The MacBook has a do everything touch pad, couldn't stand it. I disabled just about everything and persevered. Now I've mastered it. I have a little program that allows me to right click with a Control click combo. And I often navigate with 2 hands, just don't ask me how.
Karen, Have you looked into a trackball mouse? I had one with my first laptop because the touch pad was the pits. The one I had was connected to the laptop via USB cable (some are wireless). Unfortunately the one I have is now almost 6 x the price I paid for mine. If you do a search on Amazon you can find a reasonably priced one. You don't have to have a solid surface for it to work. Sitting at a table I held the mouse on my leg. You can use them anywhere even with the mouse on a sofa pillow or even JD!
I think I really want a tablet with a touch screen. The idea of just having one peice of equipment that I can hold in my hand appeals to me. I don't really even like the laptop, it seems very cumbersome to me. If I have to sit at a table anyway, I'll stick with my PC.
Lying on my bed, laptop on me : )
Have had iPad out of box for several hours now and LOVE already. Karen, I also have a laptop PC and a desktop iMac. IPad will for sure replace my laptop just as soon as I figure out how to use my iMac for all of my photo processing needs. So....I am keeping the iPad.......Cs5 and the iMac might however be up for grabs if I don't figure them out soon...LOL.
I don't even know what those are, lol.
Jane told me to buy the iPad at the Apple store, they offer free classes, and I will definitely need them!
Apple customer service cannot be beaten. You can make appointments on line, they are terrific.
I have an IPad I got as an amazing gift when I was real sick at Christmas time. I love it to death, I barely use my lap top unless of course I want to type something long.. Like Now. You can type on an Ipad but I always look drunk or like I have a second grade education. Between auto-correct typing and typing with a touch screen, it is not an easy task. They do sell key boards for it, I am going to be purchasing one...
The only applications I have on my Ipad is Pandora.. and a few books downloaded. I am going to investigate more of the ones mentioned.
Do you really type? I don't but I don't know that you can on a tablet. You can get keyboards for them but that kind of defeats the purpose.
I tried one at Best Buy; there's a keyboard you can use right on the screen. I type with two fingers, lol.
