So I'm out driving around town during my lunch break and pull up to a stop sign. I notice the car in front of me has a very furry dog in the back. Immediately, I wonder - could this be a doodle? Since I hadn't decided where to buy lunch, I thought I'd follow this car and see if I could get a better look. Who knows - maybe they were headed to Taco Bell!
After a couple of turns and another stop sign, the car pulled into a grocery store parking lot. I still had some time, so I followed them in. I parked a couple of stalls down and waited for the humans to get safely out of site. The last thing I needed was them making a 911 call about the crazy lady following them in the parking lot! How could I explain I was just interested in their dog! When I knew the coast was clear, I slowly drove by their car hoping to make eye contact with the furry stranger. Just I passed, he looked up. And lo-n-behold - A DOODLE!. I'm guessing a Labradoodle. I was so excited my doodle sense was correct.
I wanted to find his family and tell them that I was a doodle fan/owner myself and see if they knew about the DK site. But thinking that would for sure freak them out, I decided against it. I was just happy to discover another doodle plus I still had time to make it to Taco Bell!
So does anyone else get this caught up in other doodle discoveries or is it just me?
Hi Rebekah,
Guilty!!! I was in my sister's neighborhood and stopped my car and rolled down the window to talk to a strange man with what I thought was a doodle!!! My doodle radar was correct, it was a Goldendoodle. I held up traffic to hear all about his beautiful dog.
Oh Yes I do the same thing In fact my daughter just laughs at me, but I was walking Willy yesterday afternoon and someone stopped me How funny is that plus it turns out that he has a 12 week old doodle named Lilly and she was born from the same mom that willson was born from How about that!! I did tell him about our wonderful group we have so I hope they join!!!
And also I went in to weigh Willy and he is and I am proud to say is 66 pounds and is 9 l/2 months old what a great big cuddly ball of fur
Yup, I am soo guilty of this. I make my husband pull over so I can see some walking their dog more clearly. Then I yell out the window, " Is that a DOODLE?" When they reply that it is, I ask them if they belong to doodlekisses and begin telling them all about the site - probably talking their ear off! Mostly the people have joined!
If I see a Doodle I will wave or do what I can to get their attention. I have even asked local DK members if it was them that I saw. I need a sign that says " Hi, I am Tante and Jordan from Doodlekisses" That way they will understand why I am so crazy. lol
On the other side it should say "Oh your not on Doodlekisses? You should be it's the #1 Social Network for Doodle lovers"
Then they will think we all CRAZY! lol
We were at Costco and I saw a Doodle in a truck,I wanted to walk around and see if I could spot the owner, and then I wanted to wait to talk to them at their truck.DH thought(let be real, thinks) I am crazy and vetoed that idea.
There is another doodle somwhere in my neighborhood- I thought he was sooo cute about 2 months before I got Sophie I was talking about how beautiful that dog was- haven't seen it since. So, I always have an eye out for another doodle here in Andover.
I have had over a dozen cars pull over on the side of the road as I am walking Sophie since we got her "is that one of those....goldendoodle dogs" I always smile and answer their questions. Happened to me today in fact- I was running with Sophie and a lady pulled into her driveway as I ran passed it- after I turned around down the block, she came out to ask me if Sophie was a doodle. I talked with her for awhile and told her about doodlekisses and how Sophie is a rescue dog..
I love it when people ask me about Sophie- I'll brag about her every chance I get!
I just did this the other day - saw a couple at the grocery store. Walked right up to them and said, "Is this a doodle?" They looked at me very cautiously, like, "Oh here we go... some broad is gonna tell us that doodles are "real" dogs." I said, "I have a Goldendoodle at home." You'd think I was their long lost family! We talked for almost half and hour, sharing tips and names of groomers. LOL! We're ALL crazy about our doodles!
I do the exact same thing but I do it from coast to coast!!! Before my daughter moved back to California from NYC I would go for a visit and would go to great lengths to pursue any dog that looked like a Doodle at the end of the leash. Central Park was a great place to find them! I even was looking out of my daughter's third floor apartment and saw one on a leash waiting for the crossing signal to change and I ran down the three flights and out the door just to ask.
My son lives in Boston and there I do the same thing. There are two Golden Doodles that live at the garden nursey in Needham, MA and everytime I go back for a visit I have to go say hi to them.
What is even funnier is that everywhere WE go withour Gracie, we get stopped. We can never move much more than a few yards before getting stopped . We either get asked what kind of dog is she or "is that a Labradoodle" and we have to say "Goldendoodle". More people here in California have have heard of Labradoodles more than Goldendoodles. Everyone just loves her and they want one!!!! My tail just wags and wags!! My husband and I also make a bet as to how many times we get asked what she is. We never even come close to the right number. It is always way more than we think. We always drive home laughing about how much everyone loves her and asks about her. We have even had people going the opposite direction in a cross walk and make a u-turn and run after us to ask about her. I LOVE IT!!
Today I am in Redwood City for the weekend visiting my daughter. I am on the lookout for Doodles!!!! I did see one in a car last time I was here but the owner never came out and my daughter was too embarrassed to hover outside the parked car waiting with me for the owner to come back!
Yes, me too! Just before Murphy arrived my DH and I were on vacation having lunch at a cute little restaurant in Mendocino, CA. I just happened to see a lady walking a doodle outside the window. I wouldn’t let my DH finish his lunch. We quickly ran out the door but the lady was gone so we drove around and found her in front of a shop. We pulled over and pretended that we were just shoppers headed for the store so I could ask her about her doodle.
Now, I notice people chasing us down to ask questions about OUR doodle. My DH says we should carry information cards.
