Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

In a recent post, I asked DK parents what breeds people often mistake their doodles for. With Duncan, it's almost aslways an Irish Wolfhound (I keep him quite shaggy!). I have developed a little dog-crush on that breed in recent months, so I don't know if it's that or that I volunteer with the PSPCA, but I am very into this local Philadelphia story and think I am in love with Patty :).

I am SO glad that he has been rescued (along with two other dogs) and I pray he finds the loving home he deserves.

I fell in love with Fudge and Vern from just a picture. I knew they were meant to be my dogs. I always thought it would be neat to own an Irish Wolfhound, but Vern us 96 pounds and Fudge is 46 pounds, so I have enough "dog". LOL I often see a dog on the front page or in a discussion and worry about them or wish I could handle three dogs, so yes, you can fall in love with a dog you never met. I hope Patty and the other two dogs find wonderful homes. Oh, and I also hope they throw the book at these cruel owners.

Oh wow, Vern is big! I think Duncan is going to max out at around 75 lbs and I'm akmost disappointed lol.

I always wanted a very big dog and I got one...LOL!

Yep, sure is possible to fall in love even if you have never met him/her/them.

Here is a commercial with an Irish Wolfhound that has been on TV recently

Love love LOVE this commercial!

I love the Iams commercial...

This is one of my favorites.... It came out right after I lost my Winston to heart failure.  He looked alot like this little guy..I would boo hoo every time I would see it.  Now they make me smile and remember him!

I saw this commercial Joanne and it left such a pawprint on my heart! Finney sometimes lays on me like that when I'm telling him about my day or things we're going to do.  I won't buy Iams but this spot sure brought a tear to my eye.

Just saw this commercial for the first time yesterday.  Loved it!!!

Actually, most people know the labradoodle as a breed now.  My large goldendoodle is often mistaken for a poodle, but they say they have never seen a poodle that large.

In response to the other question, yes, I think it is very possible for someone to fall in love with a dog (or a breed) that they have never met.  I have a love for Blossom, a labradoodle from Alaska, that I would know anywhere.  She is a very unusual doodle and loves the out-of-doors.  I am also absolutely fascinated with giraffes, to the extent that I think I was one in some previous life.  Silly, I guess, but I feel that strongly about them.

Very true - I guess the more appropriate question would have been, "what OTHER breed do people mistake your doodle for?" lol.

So Giraffes? No, that's not silly at all. I think they are very elegant (maybe it's the way they eat?) Personally, I would be content if my next pet was a pig :). I LOVE pigs. Plus I'm a vegetarian so I wouldn't even need to worry about offending my pet pig by eating bacon! lol

I fall in love with dogs on Petfinder all the time, and lots of the dogs in the DRC listings, too.

I'm also in love with a whole mess of dogs that I've never met here right here on DK. :-)

I just met a beautiful dog - mix of Irish Wolfhound and German Shepherd.  His coat was shaggy, but the coloring was a mix of both breeds.  He was a bit smaller than an Irish Wolfhound and gentle as a kitten.  Wish I had had my camera with me.
