The past couple of days Lucy has started jumping on the counters, on people, etc. I'm using the word "off" when she jumps. I don't want her jumping on kitchen counters but even more so I don't want her jumping on people. I'd love suggestions on how to train her not to do this.
Thanks!

I h.ave the same problem with Sasha and Oliver... Sasha counter surfs and Oliver jumps !! We constant work on this but I have not had any luck. The only reason why Oliver does not counter surf is because he is tall enough that he does not have to jump... he just runs his nose along the counter - LOL. Ollie jumps on people and I hate that because he is so big and friendly he just wants to say Hi and give a big kiss.. These two habits are very difficult to break :(
My trainer suggested using a penny bomb. It is 5-6 pennies in a water bottle. I tell her "off", if she does not get off I drop the penny bomb near her. Trainer said try not to let her see that it is me doing it. We have a large family so if she is trying to get up on the couch near me one of the kids will drop the bomb. It startles her and she jumps down. Right after we will pet her when she has all her paws on the floor. To be clear, we are not throwing the bottle at her, just near her. After about 4 times she got off the first time and now will rarely put her paws up. She sits there and barks when she wants to be played with.
I have a portuguese water dog and they are notorious jumpers.... after trying everything else in the book, the only thing that got him to stop was to step into him when he would jump. This would throw him off balance, and the jumping up no longer was rewarding in any way. All it took was one day, and he hasn't jumped up since. Trust me, he was a prolific jumper before that.
