You have Oprah!
I'm not so thrilled with Oprah anymore. I liked her better when she cried a lot and acted human.
That was probably before your time.
I am so old, I remember the billboards they posted all over town before the show ever aired. They said, in gigantic letters, "WHAT'S AN OPRAH?"
That was it; three words. Nobody knew what an Oprah was. We were intrigued.
Strange to think about it, but did you ever hear that name before? Now it's a household word.
And to be far to the Jersey people... You do have Bruce The Boss. I named my cat Bruce. OH Oh OH and South Side Johnny and the Asberry Jukes! :)
I work in Asbury High School. Bruce donated band uniforms and instruments. Saw the Jukes about 30 years ago.
Oh geesh,
In Ohio, I live across the street from TWO Jackasses--and I do mean the donkey kind. Thank goodness there are no Donkey Rescues in the running.
I am so fascinated by all these farm animals in residential areas. My dad had horses...but not within walking distance of anyone's home! And I live in a farm state!
We do have a guinea pig rescue somewhere around here. I wonder how they're doing in the voting?
I do live in a residential area, but outside the city limits and its' zoning laws. We have horses, donkeys, roosters--I guess these people try to get away with a lot.

This summer I had a horrible temper tantrum. One of the larger horses took a poop on the street in front of my house! Now, I always walk with a poop bag--we all do! We are responsible owners. I waited an hour and no one returned to clean up the horse poop. For some reason I became furious, jumped in DH's truck and headed down the road with a garbage bag. I pulled into the driveway and got out my little poop bag and a garbage bag.

Finding the pompous owner of the horse I showed her what would be the proper thing to do with poop and bags. I had a little fit. She denied it was her horse that pooped in my front yard.

I lost the argument. :( No, I did not clean it up. It stunk. I'll stick to little poops I don't need a huge bag and a shovel to clean up.

Just typing today......... stuck this in the horse topic/state discussion.
So, you could just sit in front of your house and watch horses walk by? Jackdoodle would lose a lung barking if we had that.
Are people riding these horses, or did they just forget to bring their poop bags along when they took their horse for a walk?
I'm quite cheered by this discussion. I figured out the other day that it costs me about $75 a year for my beloved black lemon-scented poop bags. Imagine what it would cost if Jack was a horse! Now I'm feeling quite thrifty!
No, they keep them in corrals (we have them in NJ) and horse farms. There are riding stables, our town has one as part of the park system. (That's why our taxes are the highest in the nation). We have a swim club, too and the beach of course borders the Eastern part of the township. I am in the Western part of the township, where all the farms and stables, are.

Personally, I don't do poop bags. Dogs use the yard and shovel it once a week (or more) into a garbage bag. But I don't do it, that's why I had kids! LOL
OH my--you and your lemon scented poop bags got me in trouble. :) I'm jealous. I think I told you I saved some never used lemon bags and used them on a walk. DUH--they are mesh on one side! Ewww poopy fingers and I had a mile to go. I should just break down and buy some.

Yes, horses walk by, down the street, with a rider. Usually on Sundays. Dogs do go nuts.

There is one large one that charges Spud when we walk by his house if he is out. I think he is protecting the 2 ponies in the yard. Kind of scares me.

Honestly, I like the horse better the those little 4-wheel ATVs. I don't but many of my neighbors have nothing to do with their money but show off what they can buy.
I recycle the newspaper bags so it's a win-win, save money and the environment.
They are biodegradable; but not money-saving. However, to get enough bags, I would have to subscribe to more papers than I can read in a timely fashion, so this might actually be cheaper.
