I received an email from someone who is looking to find a home for their Labradoodle. I'm going to paste the email here, so if anyone is interested, you can contact them. Also, maybe someone might know what breeder the Labradoodle came from and they may possibly want to know that their puppy is looking for another home.
Desperately seeing new home:
We have a black 67lb black labradoodle that we need to find a home for. Unfortuanetly the economy has left us with one income household, and a possible move to a smaller home.
Harley is an amazingly well tempered, sweet, energetic 14month old balck labradoodle. He would be an amazing stud dog, and even a more amazing family pet. He is great with children, we have a 22 month old little boy and he just lets him jump and play on him.
Would love to tell you more about him, if you are interested. Following is a picture taken 2/9/2009
Thank you,
Erika Timon
Please consider my dog as a new member to your family, he will bring many happy days and smiles ...

I hope someone will tell these people to contact IDOG RRR: rescue@idog.biz
It is my understanding that a responsible breeder either does an early spay/neuter prior to selling a puppy, or includes a spay/neuter clause in the contract. Clearly this dog did not come from such a breeder, and he is in danger of spending his life as a stud dog for a BYB or worse if he is simply given away or sold. If he is placed with IDOG or another legitimate rescue group, they will make sure he is neutered prior to being rehomed.
Obviously, she was not aware that you should ask to see testing on the dam & sire also, especially before saying he would be a great "stud dog", lol.
At least he's not from a pet store...they DO give the purchasers "papers".
Nonetheless, Trina, can you ask her to contact IDOG? If it is explained to her that that would be the safest way to ensure that he gets a " home where he will be oved, and taken care of they way he deserves to be." Maybe she will listen to you.
Thanks for whatever you can do to help this poor guy.
Oh how sad, so many pets are getting hurt from this economy!!!! Looks like my Ozzy, I would be so heartbroken if I had to give up my furry babies....I hope he finds a good home....Maybe I should buy a farm and take them all....I wish!
Most of us couldn't, Mary Beth. That's called responsible dog ownership. Things happen in people's lives that necessitate major changes, but you keep your family together...including your four-legged family members.
Because of these people mentioning that this guy would be a great 'stud dog", and contacting breeders about him, I have a feeling they are trying to make some money by selling him. I think that says enough about what kind of people they are.
Regardless of where he ends up, he is not going to have an easy time of it. Poor guy, your heart DOES just break for him.
There are an awful lot of people having to walk away from their homes and move into rentals. Most rentals don't allow pets. Or they have size limitations. I think we need to be careful...until we've walked in someone else's shoes. Any one of us could face this possibility. Let's hope not. I don't know this woman or her motivation but unfortunately with this economy, things happen.
What I don't understand are the people who get evicted and leave their pets to possibly die in an empty house! :o(
I sincerely hope that if I ever found myself in such a horrible situation, I'd do everything possible to find my poochies a great new home.
The best thing to do, Julie, is to get these plans in place before the unthinkable happens. I already have definite secure plans in place for my companion animals if something should happen that would prevent me from caring for them, and that includes the situation of having to go into a living situation that doesn't permit dogs. We all owe it to our dogs to do this kind of planning.
Furthermore, if this kind of situation does occur, there are responsible ways to rehome a dog, and irresponsible ways. Sending out a notice to a group of doodle breeders advertising your doodle as available for a stud dog is the wrong way to do it, and shows a lack of concern for the dog. But then, having a 14-month-old intact male also speaks to a lack of care & concern for the dog. Period.
My experiences with rehomed dogs causes me to come to these conclusions, and my concern for the dozens of doodles who at this moment are at risk of losing their lives in kill shelters because of this kind of lack of planning & responsibility. I like to think I walk in "the shoes" of these poor bewildered doodles who have to rely on US to speak for them. That is where my compassion lies.
Absoluetly there's a responsible way and an irresponsible way. However, all situations are different. I'm not defending the original poster at all. I'm thinking of ME and MY situation.
Should my husband lose his job...should we lose our house...should we not be able to feed ourselves...my dogs would have to go. We don't have any family that would/could take them. This is something that I think about all the time. I don't know why, it just is. I'd definately use IDOG or a similar rescue organization. I'd NEVER just LEAVE my pets in an empty house. Like I said, that disgusts me! I'd not put them on craigslist or any other "free to a good home" type thing. I'd post here and other doodle boards and make sure that they went to the best homes possible.
I sincerely hope nothing like that ever happens but there are tons of people in situations right now that six months or a year ago, they could not have foreseen.
I didn't say I would call IDOG...I know I have my peeps to take care of the big goofball!! You'll be the one calling IDOG after you try dealing with his craziness for awhile, lol!
We bought Ned without any neutering clause; we bought our English Springer Spaniel the same way. We never thought it might be in a breeder contract. This is after we got our lab/mix from a rescue that WOULD NOT let us take him until he was neutered by them. Some of us are ignorant and naive and assume all responsible people neuter family pets. Were the breeders we got Ned and Gordie from irresponsible? Probably.
