It says he does not get along well with cats.
I'm not sure if it is a no kill shelter could find out tomorrow.
Apparently this is the second time he has been returned he needs a home that will love him forever.
That's why they returned him??!!???.....I am NOT a cat fan and not the person to be commenting on THAT issue.....I'd re-home the cat before I'd be putting my dog back in a shelter.....and I better hold off on calling these people who adopted him "flakes"....OOPS!..WHAT??...I JUST DID!!....This kind of thing makes my blood boil....

Jacquie, are you serious?
Wouldn't it be unfair to bring a new pet into the house, and then rehome the old one, because the new one doesn't like it?!? Cats need loving homes, too. In any case, I wonder why they didn't try to rehome him, instead of putting him back in the shelter?!? It's possible they just don't know there are other options out there. Also, many people don't realize that animals DO get killed in many shelters! And sometimes people just don't think things through, they get excited about getting a dog, and don't think it should be a commitment for life, and not 'until it becomes inconvenient'.
I hope the poor guy finds a FOREVER home soon! So hard!
"...many people don't realize that animals DO get killed in many shelters! "
4 to 5 million cats and dogs a year, to be exact. And the vast majority of them are healthy, adoptable animals that may well have once been someone's pet.
Almost any shelter that has the words "humane", "SPCA", "County", or "control" in its name is killing healthy, adoptable dogs and cats weekly, simply to make room for more coming in. If someone's dog gets lost and is brought into one of these places, he will cause another dog who has been there more than 5 days to be killed. If someone leaves their pets behind when they move and animal control is called in, the lost dog waiting in the shelter for his owners to find him will be killed to "make room". Black dogs and cats may be killed immediately upon entering these shelters just because they already have too many black animals there. (And you thought "humane" societies and SPCA's were there to help animals, right?) These places are often closed on weekends, when families would logically be looking to adopt a pet. They refuse to allow volunteers to help out by fostering or holding off-site adoption events. Then they kill them because nobody has adopted them in a week.Your tax dollars pay for this, by the way.

That is so sad. I knew many got killed, but until recently, it just didn't cross my mind that, like you said, as one new animal comes in, an old one has to be killed, as there's only so much room! I recently started fostering for a dog rescue organization, and that's where I learned a lot of these facts I had not known before. So, now that my fist foster doggie, who's been with us for 1 month, is about to join her forever family, I get emotional, as do my kids, knowing how much we'll miss her, but I keep reminding the kids (AND myself) that for every one we foster, one less gets killed... keep fostering, keep fostering...
Poor doggies! How can some humans be so heartless??? All the abuse, neglect... all due to some people's cruel hearts!
And when irresponsible BYB's can't sell the puppies, they get dumped at the shelters too, which makes them responsible for other innocent dogs being killed, so they are doubly to blame.
Bless you for fostering, Maya! For everyone who can't foster, sometimes you can save the life of a shelter dog by just volunteering and spending a few minutes a week with a shelter dog, taking him for a walk, just brushing or petting him. A dog who is less stressed and friendlier to people has a better chance of being chosen for adoption.
