Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, I am new to the forum and since I couldn't find any info regarding Laparoscopic spay I thought I would share my experience. After much discussion with my vet and research I chose to have my puppy Charlie spayed via laparoscope vs traditional spay. The deciding factor was faster recovery and less pain documented in the literature. Charlie had her lap spay at noon and I was able to pick her up at 6pm the same day. When I picked her up she was alert and active. She had some discomfort the first couple of days mostly due to itching from razor burn where they shaved her. She was pretty well back to normal activity on day 4 & we went back on day 7 to remove stitches. Charlie is 5 months old and we are happy we chose this route.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

My sisters Chow puppy was lap. spayed a few years ago with no problems but her vet kept her overnight just to keep an eye on her.  My Sasha had the regular spaying done and she was back to normal the next day after a good night sleep :)

I am not a vet but, my Zoey now 4 years old was lap spayed at 7 weeks.  The breeder does it before you could get your puppy.  She seems like a happy healthy puppy and I never had a problem.
