I think that if someone leaves DK voluntarily his/her comments etc. should not disappear unless the member wants them to. People leave for many reasons. I remember one person leaving after her doodle died. Some members themselves may become ill or die (not so voluntary then). That doesn't mean what they wrote is not worthwhile or valuable. When everything related to a member is deleted it leaves "holes" in discussions and difficulties in following a thread. Our Fearless Leader, Adina could always delete everything if need be . Perhaps Adina will note that somehow ning doesn't allow these options. I wish there were a way, maybe there is, that we could give some feedback to ning on features we'd like or things that could use tweaking. I'd also like to be able to go to My Groups directly from the main page. Maybe that is something under administrative discretion? those are my random thoughts tonight on this subject. Anyone have other ideas or comments.
We can add the "my groups" link under the Groups tab I think. That's an easy one.
As far as people leaving DK they do have the option to leave their stuff or remove it--which is fair, but I don't have any control over those who remove their membership.
No it means their writings would not automatically disappear. That was not always the case...it used to be that once a member left so did everything they contributed.
I think you mean that they could choose to delete their writing and you couldn't prevent that. If they choose to leave what had been written you could delete it if need be. That's good. And the tab for My Groups would be great. Thanks.
What your saying makes a lot of sense. There have been discussions I've tried reading but couldn't because it was too difficult to follow the thread after some comments were removed. I agree those comments are still worthwhile and valuable, even if the member is no longer on DK. However, it makes sense that people should have the right to choose whether their contributions are removed or remain after they leave.
