Fall is here....or should I say football season! My DH is a big-time Vikings fan. Last year, in preparation for deerhunting, he was watching a Vikings game...with Rua! I realized right then and there, Rua had to have a Vikings Cheerleader outfit.
I did a search last year on-line and in stores, but I couldn't find anything. So, I decided I would wait until the next season and make her one (she wouldn't outgrow it then).
So, here is the the outfit:
I used gabardine, wide gold ribbon and a smaller purple ribbon and a strip of fleece that had various Viking Football symbols!
Here is Rua modeling her new cheerleader outfit!
And finally, Rua and Papa, ready for an afternoon Minnesota Vikings Football game!
Does your Doodle love to cheer on your favorite football team? Let's see some team spirit!

It was pretty easy to make once I figured out the pattern. I fashioned it after a little halter dress that velcro's at her throat and under her belly. I put it together in a few hours (the next time will be much quicker since I had to figure out how to use my brand new sewing machine while I was at it). I am going to make her a Minnesota Gophers outfit too. I used white gabardine ($3.13 for 1/2 a yard and I'll get 2 tops from it), purple ($3.00 for 1/2 yard and I'll get 4 skirts from it)...the Vikings fleece (they have Fla. Gator fleece) was $2.33 for the strip I needed (cut out the Viking guy and there are 3 more on the strip). I bought snag-free Velco and used 1 foot (1/3 of the $2.44 package). The ribbon (two colors, 1 yard each) was a total of $1.40! So actual product to make 1 was $5.55 with tax...but I spent $13.14 for all of the materials! Now, I just have to make 3 more Rua-size outfits. I saw a Nebraska Huskers outfit for $22.99!
Do you sew? I could mail you a copy of the pattern I made. If you don't sew and really want a FL Gator outfit, PM me and we could work something out.
Oh, Holy Smoke! They are just adorable! You are amazing, Dori! Thanks, again, for making those for our girls. You can be sure Brulee and Tira will be sporting them for the game with Tennessee!
Glad your weekend went well and you got back safely!
What kind of new job did you get? I'm so glad you are happy with it. Our jobs are a major influence on how we feel each day, aren't they?
It was CRAZY at work today..I didn't get to lunch, and was training my boss...it was 5:40 before I left work and I didn't get to the Post Office. I'll go tomorrow...so you should hve package on Thursday!
I will be working for the National Safety Council, Greater Omaha Chapter, as the Director of Accounting. I start on 9.22. I will be glad not to deal with the stress of days like today. I had to help 3 families today, 2 making arrangements for a service. One young woman was in last week making arrangements for her Mom who died on 9/5...her dad just died 9/10. Made ME cry.
At this stage of my life, I don't want to deal with death daily!
Dori, slow down and take a breath! It sounds like you have made a good move with your new job. Those numbers, after 9.22 will be a lot less emotionally stressful to deal with. How sad for that poor woman!
I'll be good with your package whenever it gets here! Not to worry!
